Thanks. Fingers crossed it works. Might be the longest time I have ever sat down in one place without a PC in front of me, lol

If he says "Look into my eyes, look into my eyes, not around the eyes" like Kenny Craig, I know I will just pee myself laughing.

I have been a Hypnotherapist for over 30 years and yes it does work, but I would advise you when you ring this therapist to ask them where they were trained. Also can they provide you with a contact number to check their qualifications. The reason I say this, is that a lot of so called therapists now have had one weekend of training, or just read a few books. There is nothing stoping anyone putting a sign on their door saying that they are a Hypnotherapist and putting lots of letters after their name also.
There are a lot of geniune ones out there and a lot just want to take money from you and dhave not been trained so it is better to be safe than sorry.

though of couse anyone can open a school offering certificates in hypnotherapy since it is a totally unregulated industry with no national/recognised standards or certification.

the best bet would be a personal recomendation...

Ta, will bear that in mind. He's got some stuff on his website, where he is accredited etc, so I will check that out.

I like to go on personal recommendations where possible, but unfortunately, I don't know anyone around here who has had it done.

I agree, check it out first. Listen if you don't like the look of them or you just don't feel comfortable with the first one you see, just say no thankyou and look again. Just a final word no-one says look into my eyes, I know I crease up every time I see it on t.v just love Little Britain. I have found over the years that people feel somewhat uncomfortable with the word "Hypnotise", so I use the word "Relax", in all my conversations and consultations. It takes guts or desparation to go through analysis, but priceless when its allover.

Thanks. It says on the site he likes to chat on the phone first so he can get an idea of what he is going to deal with, and you can get an idea of what he is like. Also I could bring a friend along for company etc.

yeah dont worry, take a friend if you like but they *may* put you off, you might feel a bit self conscious and thus, be unable to completely relax - of course you could be the kind of person where you need a friend to relax.

The thing is hypnotherapists cant get you to do anything you dont want to in the first place. You wont end up robbing a bank or anything...

Dont worry about the people you see on the TV doing things that make them look stupid.
bear in mind that when they put their hands up to volunteer for a stage hypnotist most people understand they will be made to look silly - what they are saying is "okay im up for a laugh"

if anything happens that you dont like during the therapy, say a fire alarm goes off or something, you'll be back fully conscious and aware in a second.

I accept you may be nervous but honestly if you go with an open mind and are willing to try, Im sure it WILL help you.
