Thread: Bidders not even trying to reach reserve price

Angry Bidders not even trying to reach reserve price

    Hi

Can anybody tell me how I can get rid of someone bidding on my auction. They have been on it for days and have not even tried to reach the reserve price
I have had enquiries about the item and I am so annoyed. I couyld have sold this twice over. Some people just like a buy now on your auction and can't be bothered with the whole bidding process.
This person who is bidding is seriously begining to annoy me. Especially at this time of year, where there are people who want to buy at the last minute Today was the last day for Special Deliveries, so anyone buying it now would not be guarateed it for Christmas.

add them to your 'blackball' list (it's an option in your 'my ebid' area) and choose to remove bids

I tried that but it says that it did not recognise the user. I know they have an account because I checked them out as I always do when anyone bids on my auctions

    Hi Helen,

I mostly sell and have just recently came from a feepay site to eBid. I have always enjoyed even the nibblers bidding on my auctions as they can stir a little interest sometimes which can help get it on up to the reserve.

On the feepay site when a seller used the Buy-it-now options it was not removed until the reserve was met. That is what I would really like to see here on eBid instead of trying to stop the bidders. If eBid will make it where the Buy-it-now will not be affected until the reserve is met, we will not be as annoyed by the nibblers and will not need to blackball them ----- so they can be happy, those wanting to use the buy-it-now will be happy and when it sells we will all be happy.

I don't know if you like this I idea but, if so, maybe eBid will be interested in making the change.

Have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year and God Bless.

The reason some of them do this apparently is to up the buddy points. Not allowed and not fair on the person who auction they are causing havoc in. It has nothing to do with nibblers. If there is a buy now price of say, £200, they know that the reserve price is going to be pretty high. I mean you wouldn't expect to get it for £15. That is what we are talking about here. Nibblers don't bother me but this was blatant. Putting a bid in knowing they have no hope of getting it, just to up their points. They weren't trying to buy it. I tried for 2 almost 3 days trying to get them off, because there were other people interested in the auction. It is too late now the auction is almost finished and anyone who wanted it now in time for Christmas would have to be able to pick it up themselves. It is the selfishness of it were are on about here, not somebody being stupid and not knowing. They have their own site so they knew exactly what they were doing. If they didn't, they must be incredibly stupid. Anyway it is sorted now.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to everyone!!

hi there, I would have to apologize first of all to any sellers that have a reserve price and it not being met. I bid on another store but when I bid, apparently, I didn't meet the reserve. I try to be honest and never reliazed that it would hold up the selling of that particular item. I've abandoned auctions when I saw that I couldn't afford to bid any higher. I thought it was set up like other auction sites where it won't affect the sale of the item. I sure won't bid on any reserve not met items. I'm sorry to any seller of done it to .

Islandgirl you've not done anything wrong. It's the sellers choice what price they start their auctions at- and what price they set their reserves at. In my view it can be misleading of a seller to set a start price which is considerably lower then the reserve when they could just as easily set it close to the reserve. As a buyer you have no way of knowing what the reserve is- so keep on bidding
