Ways to introduce some new customers....

I know this is an oldie.

I know I am going to get flamed *ouch already, I'm still smarting from the last time*

We would all like Ebid to be a success, so what can we do to help?

1. Help advertising ebid. Signatures, weblinks, banners etc. Anything goes on the www.

2. Blogs & forums - as many occurences of the words "ebid" and "auction site" in the same sentence.

3. Tell a friend - lets be honest, how many of us who advertise here and THERE push Ebid more than Ebay?

4. How about - convert an ebayer? Sorry, I haven't thought this through, but here goes - for every Ebayer that comes here, registers a new account with some reference to their Ebay account name, and then purchases, they get a bonus. Or something. Like I said, no forethought here....

5. Ebid car stickers... Those annoying things that go in the back window of cars and say something like "my other auction website is Ebid" (before that one is used guys, I going to copyright it, I think that one is quite good ).

6. Something a little more substantial that Motorway advertising (which is what I heard a few months ago) - how about sponsor something with a little prestige, or make some crazy news story like the guy that tries to sell all his possessions on Ebay - that made national news (well, certainly over here it did).

7. Try and entice some of the bigger Ebay sellers here... I for one advertise on both - Ebay sales 05 = 1035, Ebid sales 05 = 1.

8. Improve the quality of advertising. I am sat here typing this and on the right of the screen is apartment sales and domain name companys... oh and an advert for relocating...

9. Reciprocal links.

Anyone else with anything else?

Sorry, can help you on that one. Non-believer here...

Faith isn't going to expand any markets. If you had a shop off the high street, on a quiet road where hardly anyone treads, yet sell the best items available at really good prices, if you don't do something, how can you sell those items?

I would love for things to suddenly just to turn round, but I've been here for some time (not on the forums though) and not noticed a massive influx of buyers, only sellers.

As you've already mentioned, this topic is old and you're preaching to the choir.

Long term members here have seen this topic surface time and again and all sorts of suggestions have been made.

YES, there is a place for the users here to tell people about eBid, YES, we put links on our websites and links in our emails, and YES, we even mention the site to eBay users, but at the end of the day it's a long uphill struggle against a competitor who has hundreds of thousands of pounds to spend on advertising anda brand name that millions of people know about already.

The conclusion that is always inevitably reached is that this site needs proper, long-term advertising on TV and possibly in the national papers (not just the odd magazine or two who do a few pages on the site). Advertising, of course, costs a fair whack of cash and there's very little we users can do to encourage Da Boyz into spending it. Either they will choose to advertise the site or they won't. Unfortunately, it appears at the moment that the latter is what is happening.

It sucks, but what can we do?

its all suply and demand what do people whant from Ebid and what can the sellers provide for thouse who will pay for it.
