No, it doesn't sound right. Not sure where that's come from.

The first people who will receive the drugs (outside of government) are to be the front line medical staff who are likely to be most at risk of exposure while they treat the rest of us.

However, I can easily see that government ministers and top military will find a way to look after themselves first and us last.

I think the elderly and infirm will be the first to receive vaccines, followed by the more healthier people.

Personally, I'd be more concerned about the vaccines rather than the "disease".

what about kids???surely they come before them 2....long as its safe for them obviously

that really ****e s me off sometimes kids are not taken in consideration before others...i tried to get an appointment today at the doctors for daughter....receptionist said sorry blank face...nothing all week...give me a break just need 5 mins....shes a child surely deserves to be seen FIRST.(and i dont mean shes MY CHILD i mean a child). or at least FITTED in somewhere...cow

ah well suppose it depends on what the problems actually are..if its a sniffle for a kid then yeah they will live and if it serious for older people then yes. but what if its potentially dangerous for a kid and run of the mill will survive for the elderly........but do they know at all? too much to ask really i suppose for them to make a judgement... i know for a fact they have a say/leeway and are not automatons so that **** ed me off today lol

No, the first to get sorted will be the medical staff. This has already been announced and is part of their long term strategy.

They will be followed by the "at risk" groups - which include those who already have respiritory illnesses such as asthma or bronchitis, those with heart conditions and the elderly.

There will not be enough Tamiflu to treat everyone - and the top medical people have already stated that it is not necessary to treat everyone. Most people are healthy enough to cope with even virulent flu - which is just as well as the 14 million (or so) doses (enough for around a quarter of the population) which have been ordered will not be completely delivered until december 2006.

There certainly won't be enough vaccine to treat everyone. The vaccine will take around four months to develope from the time the virus mutates into a human-to-human form, then literally years to produce enough for every person (even if the government would fund it). Remember, if this thing hits the whole world will want the vaccine and there are very few places capable of producing it. Demand will far out-strip production capability.

Remember though, in theory, most healthy people should be able to fight it off with little more trouble than any other flu.

I've had *ordinary* flu twice now. And when people say "I've got a touch of flu", I know they haven't got anything LIKE flu - if they had they would be unable to hold conversation....
