Fair enough. When "Life" means a killer can be let free after 9 years, the fixed tariff of 40 years is better. When and if he comes eligible for release he will be in his 70's. Personally, I think it gives the other inmates 40 years to make his life hell on earth. Sooner or later someone, also on a long tariff, is going to finish him off, thinking they have nothing to lose. The prison officers can't watch him 24/7. Someone will get through to him just when theythink it's all quiet and peaceful. The temptation to look the other way must be almost overwhelming.
if he'd done that to my daughter I would be paying someone to make sure he suffered for his 40 years and then had a terrible accident the week before release
Why is it when they say life it's not, so why say it

So really he only got 20 years for each murder.
The family's of the two girls have got life

The night they announced on the news that they had found the two bodies, I went to bed and cried my eyes out - now if that affects me like that, how on earth did those poor families feel!
