    KeyWord Alert

Keyword alert alerts you when specified keywords are typed. Up to 30 keywords can be specied. For example, when a keyword/phrase such as “parents are gone”, “sex”, “meet”, “husband gone” are typed, the log file would be mailed immediately.
Or keywords like Bank, password, account, code, access or money.

You could try emailing them directly, explaining your circumstances and asking for a way to get rid of it.

How did you find it, it's supposed to opperate in stealth mode?

Only the shareware version is non-stealth. Is that what you've found?

    thanks all for your response

i had an email from pcpitstop.com, with info on this product that detects keyloggers, it said that most antivirus software or spycheckers miss them

its called counterspy, by sunbelt i think

so installed and ran it and it came up saying i had that win spy software installed on my computer.

it told me i had a couple of other things too, but they dont really concern me

i have enough net experience not to open emails from people i dont know (with and without attachments)

i have had disks in the past from various friends that have had software on them

no one but husband and i have access to this comp.

its not my husband, *laughs* (love the bit about ~husband gone~

there is nothing in life i need to hide from him

the winspy software has been quarantined for the moment

i know that the prog wasnt easily visible on my comp, as a couple of days ago i went through looking at everything on it, ok somethings i had no idea what they were, but they werent where this was found on my comp. i always keep all files visible so it wasnt there hiding.

Personally, I would be very wary of strange companies emailing offering programmes to install. They are sometimes the ones causing the spyware problem.

    hi shelley

i have used pcpitstop.com before, and regularly get newsletters from them.

im quite happy with the counterspy thing i downloaded, unless they stick one on your computer, just to point out that you need their product!

    laughs

firewall now installed, so hopefully that will stop any other attempts at installing such software again

will look up what is suggested to do with this quarantined thing next.

Hells Bells Minkyra! You mean you didn't have a Firewall before?
I don't know the firm who you got the Spyware Remover from, but I tried a Shareware one. It scanned but didn't remove the Spyware. You had to pay for that. It told me I had 28 Spyware items on the PC. I had already scanned with A2 Squared so knew this was wrong. I used Search including "hidden files and folders" and looked for these files it said I had. Nothing, Nada, Zilch. It said I had these Malware items to get me to buy their stuff.
To remove any Spyware, there are 3 well known free programmes, and loads of not so well known ones.

A2 Squared is the best I have found. I have had no problems since using this, and started using it while in Beta Format. Has frequent updates. Very thorough deep scan.

Ad-Aware SE Personal . Very good and quite thorough.

Spybot Search and Destroy. I don't think this is as good as it used to be, but does have some useful Tools.
