Default In "my eBid" - marry up user ID's on sales & Feedback pages

In the closed auctions page, buyer email addresses are used to identify them

In the Feedback page, buyer aliases / user ID's are used to identify them

please reconcile this to show the same one (or both) on each page.

It becomes very confusing and time consuming when the lists get long

Email addresses are shown to allow contact with the buyer if required.

The username should always be the point of reference as it is available on both pages.

Wierd - it is now, but was not an hour ago when I was clearing a feedback backlog

By the way, while you're in a replying mood....

Why did you not respond to the 8 emails I sent, and the one that Rainbow sent, over the last 50 hours regarding me not receiving a change of password email?

I had to use the "forgotten password feature" to generate a password so I could log in.

AND - I am still not receiving end of successful auction emails - even on the new email address. They are not arriving at my ISP either - so the fault IS within eBid.
The new email address IS receiving forum reply and reserve price met emails - same as was the previous email address.

Please reply to this thread and the one in After the Auction concerning this issue.

It is not just eBid emails that you have been missing though is it Gary? Did I not see you posting on eBay saying that you weren't getting emails from them either?

Oh so you do still talk to me?

Yes I had a problem on eBay - it is fixed now, and yes it was at their end, not mine. It also had not been onging as long as it had on here - I jumped on it very quickly, and so did they (compared to here). Several others had the same issue, as you full well know if you read that thread.
I also had one with PayPal - but that was resolved within a few days and it was not only me, but everyone whose accounts were "homed" on a particular server - they admitted to it, but it has been kept very quiet after all their negative publicity over server crashes etc in the last year. I reckon we can factor out the PayPal issue as a red herring.

To me it seems curious that on both eBay and eBid, it has been ONLY "end of successful auction" emails not arriving
    - it smacks of a very specialised virus attack - one that the anti-virus vendors have not caught onto because it is disguising itself as a system error.
Additionally, why only a restricted list of users on both sites?
I would expect such a virus to attack everyone's accounts, but it hasn't.
Thus I go back to another statement I posted a while back - either the auction engine itself is buggering about with user accounts, or part of the user settings database has been corrupted.

The key indicator in my case is that THREE different ISP / mail services are / did not receive this one type of email, from two different auction sites - remember , it is only ONE type of email that has been affected.

I haven't bothered monitoring the other dozen or so sites that I sell on, because I sell on them so rarely and haven't had any sales on them during this period of problems.
    -------

To echo the implied barb in your post - have you any idea why a number of users here, like me, receive all emails from eBid except the "end of successful auction" emails?
If we are not receiving them, then who is?
Does the server log identify the recepient email address of outgoing emails?
(slides specs down nose and looks over them in Sophia's direction in best interrogatory manner)
Was your comment (above) an after effect of your taking a private dispute public, and spitting out the aniseed flavoured dummy? These problems (on eBid) started very soon after that incident. (raises eyebrow while still looking over top of specs)

The issue on both sites may of course be completely unrelated, and having wasted weeks proving, then wiping and rebuilding my systems, then re-proving it's not from this end, I am convinced they are from seperate causes. Therefore I'm treating eBid as a stand-alone issue that has affected several users.
Remember I am not a novice computer user - I started in the technical side of the industry in 1979, initially trained by the RAF, until, in the commercial side of IT, I was spending almost 3 months a year attending training with the likes of Microsoft, Intel, AMD, Western Digital, Seagate, Adobe, Sage, Novell etc. I was also project manager and contract corporate support to companies like Dell, GEC, BAA, LloydsTSB etc
    - so please, Sophia, don't drop red herrings into issues that have clear outlines (if that was your intention) - I DO know the processes to pre-isolate support issues, and locate the problem source.

I was in a hurry when I posted earlier.. I am trying to get work done.. lol but.... all I was saying was that it wasn't only here that people were having trouble.

Perhaps it is only one server affected... no idea really as my hubby is the IT person in this family.

They could be unrelated.. then again they could be related to do with a server somewhere along the line. As I said.. I don't know.. I was just saying that it wasn't just this site that people were having problems with emails is all...

I could almost recite that lot of the top of my head I've seen it so many times. I wasn't saying you knew nothing about computers/servers etc.. I was just saying that other people, on other sites were having the samet rouble.

LOL There was no red herrings Gary. I was just commenting... is that really such a problem? If I had psoted that I was having trouble getting eBay emails would that have been a problem too?
Surely it is better for G&M to know that other people are having the same trouble elsewhere not jsut here? I thought I was being helpful... I certainly didn't intend on getting you this upset over it. Sorry Gary.

OK thanks for clearing that up

I am really stressed out by this issue and have been surviving on "cat-naps" for the last fortnight while trying to resolve it (although here it started over a month ago)

I am completely exhausted with this debacle and the tiredness is making me (more) paranoid (than normal) - thought I'd best say it first.

    --------------------------------------------------------

GAZZA - if you're following this (lurking) - have had the first automated response to the first of the 5 test emails I sent to you, but not to the other 4.
