If the cap doesn't fit, why choose to wear it?
Broadband time will vary depending on speed. I'd guess at between 20 and 120 minutes.Originally Posted by rightcharlie
It wouldn't be worth even attempting it with dial-up unless you had software installed to allow you to resume an interupted download. Download time would be around 6-8 hours.
IMO.
On dialup, you can get about 20mb an hour if you're not browsing at the same time. So it would take about 3-4 hours.
BTW what is it, some of us might want it too!
I wish I'd have had your dial-up service before I had broadband. I never got downloads anywhere remotely near that.Originally Posted by juicylucy
I did download a game demo that was just over 64 meg and it took me the time I stated above (including numerous line drops and re-dials).
Yeah, it would depend on the speed the actual line was able to download at, you can get broadband between 512k and 8MB and dial-up can depend on the quality of the line. Also, you can only download as quickly as the source can upload.Originally Posted by rightcharlie
Are you talking about a film trailer or video file?, as I know thats in your field of work, if so you (or more precisely the end user) may benefit from streaming the output of such a file (i.e. the film would download while it was playing)

no its just an audio file, PH, my stop smoking CD, trying to work out a way to distribute it without having to burn the CD's and yesterday, thanks to fellow KT'ers i learnt how to compress an hour+ down to just 68mb - as an mp3 - though it is still a huge file Im so open to all suggestions.
thanks again.

You could use a compression program such as Winzip and then a file splitter. Advise people where to download the splitter/joiner and let them download the file a bit at a time. Once they have all the bits they can rejoin them and extract the file.Originally Posted by rightcharlie
I may rewrite it into seperate tracks, say 10 at 6megs each or something, thanks for you advice though.Originally Posted by damian_steele
