The Springer Show (9.25 weekday mornings ITV)

Has anyone ever watched this? Oh....My.....God. I thought Trisha was bad enough for chavs and inbreds fighting with each other about their parents, men or children, but if you haven't seen The Springer Show, you ain't seen NOTHING yet!

It's very much like the original US show, in the sense that they have managed to find the biggest bunch of low lifes, inbreds and chavs to come on the show. I really can't believe my eyes!

On the show today:
2 sisters (in their 30s?) from Manchester who hate each other and accuse each other of sleeping with their fellas, mother comes out, she hates one of the daughters - all three need a good wash, haircut and a decent night's sleep.

Then we had 2 lesbians, one of which had most of her teeth missing and was drunk/high, who was having difficulty remembering why she was on the show. It turned out she was accusing her girlfriend of sleeping with her brother. Girlfriend spends the rest of the section SHOUTING. Then brother comes out, it turns out he's really camp and is actually GAY.

What a programme....

I've seen this unbelievable cr*p programme in the past. Springer doesn't understand half of what they are saying and even worse tries to imitate some of the words that he doesn't get - in a Dick Van Dyke english accent. The US version has the US low life equivalent, but marginally more bearable because being remote, the accents and body language are so sadly hilarious. The UK version is just SAD and the chav speak is too close ... "yeah but no but yeah but" ... to home

Springer does not work for me for one simple reason....

we like it BECAUSE it is American - we laugh at the trailer trash. Having an English show just reminds us that there are the UK equivalent near us, which makes us uncomfortable.

After all, they could be our next-door neigbours!!

Though gotta say i did get VERY bored with his USA show, same old , same old in the end up.

I think people watch Springer for the same reasons they watch most so-called reality TV shows, Pop Idol type shows, Big Brother (or clones) and so on. It's a modern version of the Freak Show. We take pleasure from looking at the weirdos and the scum and we feel better because we aren't like them.
