Thread: What would you say to this?

  1. #1

    Default Buyer collecting item QUERY

I had a buyer (complete local stranger) come collect an item today and when he had got back to work, he left me an email saying 'he would have stopped for a drink, but had to get back to work'

LOL I dont know if thats cheeky saying that or not LOL! I would certainly feel uncomfortable!

Hes also interested in other items I have, but what if the next time he collects he does stop for a drink. Am I right to be afraid or should I tell him I dont have time?

Or is this just being polite, to offer him a drink?

If a buyer has ever brought off you before, would you offer them a drink?

I dont know what to do, so please help

The only time I've had a buyer collect from me I had the item ready and waiting and left the buyer on the doorstep while I got it and passed it to her. She checked it and departed.

I suppose it depends on the size of the item being sold (items of furniture being the obvious, but not only, exception!). Generally I would not even invite a buyer into my house let alone offer them a drink!

I NEVER invite people in! They get their item on the doorstep!

The buyer was VERY handsome and friendly lol!

I left them on the doorstep when I dealt with them, they only won a small item that fits in the hand, not a large fridge! lol

Maybe he was just being friendly? I dont know, but I am a bit worried!

IT'S YOUR CALL at the end of the day lorraine.

I have been asked many times for peeps to come and collect.
Meet and pass goods etc. I always said NO.

One guy took no notice and came anyway FOUR times. To deliver 3 items ( 2 blues tops and a fila beanie hat ) & to check all was ok.

EVEN THOUGH I SAID NO!!! & paid for p&p ... he said as he was local.

Anyway, he posted 1 thing to wrong door, caused a whole heap of chaos and so i was rather pi**ed off to say the least.

Im sure he just thought he was being a good seller ?
    I thought he was a CHEEKY FE*K

A couple asked to meet in a pub / town etc.

HELLO .... I DONT THINK SO.

But ... has to be your call @ the end of the day.
What does your instinct tell you ? LISTEN TO THAT.

Being serious, I would not invite any stranger in to my house if I was alone.
However, my whips and chains do make me feel safer and scare off most callers.

Due to the nature of my goods I would never agree to buyers collecting. I did have one guy want to collect his autostroker but I refused. He then asked if I would meet him in a pub. I still refused.

Sounds a bit suspect wanting to collect it to me, I would be wary of anybody who wanted to collect something which could have easily and cheaply been posted.
