    Still haven't decided who will get my vote.. but looking at the state of things at the moment... NHS all to pot (when a little girl with cerebal palsy has a 45 minute fit.. gets to hospital and ends up sleeping the night in her fathers arms while he sits in a chair because there are no cots/beds available.. and apart from the A&E staff no doctors saw her until the following morning), the ID card... the Childrens Bill, that dodgy connexions database... just the tip of the iceberg really.. I'd be here all night whinging if I tried to remember it all! lol
    Can't say I will be voting for TB.

    Had a leafleyt through door today for the English Democrats....
    They want to have a separate English Parliment, and have a strict immigration policy.

    Don't know much about them or their policies, but from what Ive read so far they sound good.

    Don't forget the Poll tax that put me into debt because I couldn't afford to pay it. I thought Connexions was actually brought in by the Conservatives!!! Most of the Children's Bill was a Conservative thing too. Blair just went along with it. Who took free school milk away from children, and now cases of rickets have been seen in young school children? Who sold off the school meals service, and demanded that the service should be run at a profit? Who sold off the hospital cleaning services? The companies that took over school meals, and hospital cleaning, were often set up by MP's wives. Who set up Quangos of MP's wives and relatives, and allowed these unelected bodies to run health care etc. on fat cat salaries? The Party with it's snout in the trough. Not the Labour party. I'm old enough to have lived through the Tory "Boom and Bust" and saw interest rates soar sky high, so friends who had been encouraged to buy their Council Houses, lost them when they could no longer afford the escalating price of the mortgages.
    Who took us into Europe on a pack of lies about it being a trade agreement? We know different now though, don't we!

    Thumbs down

    Hi Elaine,

    I've put my serious hat on today !

    For the last 25 years of my working life i have made it my own policy never to talk Religion or Politics........

    But now i have to take a stand !

    This country is in serious Trouble if it carries on the course its taking.

    3 Parties

    1) Leader we already know he's been in charge for nearly 8 years

    2) Former Home Secretary.......Good Kick Ass & Hard as nails when it came to to Law and Order.
    Proved track record........Something of the Night about him ?
    Nice family & Grandchildren !

    3) Leader and new Father........Allegedly used to like a bit of Pop ?

    For me it has to be Blue...................Caroline Spelman is High profile good with the media, Great for womens rights etc.

    My Local MP Owen Patterson by default would become, if elected the Minister for rural affairs we badly need an experienced Guy at the top.

    I could go on but i won't......My personal view is that because the Government almost works with a no blame culture (Mr Blairs ex College buddies etc) None of Tony's mates have really had the Sack, the rest of us have more of a "Couldn't give a Toss" attitude than say 10 years ago...this stems directly from the way the country is being run.

    Previous threads about imigration and being racist have highlighted what people want to really do, but our real liberties are being taken away from us bit by bit. You feel embarassed to talk about certain subjects etc.

    Last week my tax code went up to K222 which means i am now £5,000 worse off than last year. I work longer hours. for less money ? Where's the sense in that ?

    My Wife now leave's for work at 7 AM and gets back for 7 PM she earns £17,000 as a teacher. Her bosses at the School are off with stress ?

    I Make tea and she spends approx a further 3 hours on the PC doing paperwork. Most nights

    This includes Saturdays aswell.

    Today the Binmen for a laugh only emptied half the bins on our estate.......................... I Pay £2500 Community charge a year to be told by the refuse collection manager that he cannot do anything about it ?

    Come May 5th Kick Ass vote for anyone except Labour !!!!

    Sorry about that i've said my piece....................

    goes for a lie down.
    Never take your loo for granted Camping sucks.......

    Memories are short, people are so quick to blame this government for the mess the country is in...

    When it was the tories, and mainly THATCHER who passed legislation for:

    * open door to immigrants, asylum seekers etc
    * privatisation
    * VAT/tax hikes
    * benefit cuts
    * massive public service/sector cuts (included schools, NHS etc)
    * council property sell off (nowhere for lower paid people to live now)
    * entry into Europe

    And MUCH MUCH MORE than I can list (go read Dragonmist's post above for more details)...

    I may be only 33, but I remember school milk being cut, the beginnings of services being contracted out, local education and the GLC being abolished, benefits being cut, cut, and cut again, pensions "rearranged", small & local businesses going under, interest rates and unemployment going sky high, high earners being rewarded, low earners being shafted ...

    You get my drift.

    I was SO GLAD to see Labour voted in, under the Tory regime I felt as though I was choking. At the time I was a single parent on benefits, and could barely afford to stay alive. I had the feeling that if Conservative had been re-elected, I wouldn't have survived, or if I did, I would have had no hope or future - and neither would my kids.

    Unfortunately, we can still see the result of her bills and legislation today...politicians aren't stupid. They say "we'll cut public spending...in 2010"...and whatever that is, if it gets passed in parliament, whatever Party is in power at the time it comes in, the cuts go ahead....

    There is another way to VOICE your vote, if neither of the candidates are worthly of your VOTE...............decline to VOTE all together. It might not be the best choice, but at least you can say (which is your business anyway)...that you did not VOTE for the electee.

    just my 2 cents
    BTW - I've voted in every election Federal, State, and Local since I was able to cast my Ballot........I only once DID NOT VOTE in the PRESIDENTAL ELECTION (USA) when Jimmy Carter ran for the presidential election......NO CANIDATE seem to be what I wanted for a President.......We all know the outcome of that election.........that's History..

    Sincerely,
    a YANKS point of view

    I think that bloke who tried to sell his vote on The Other Side got arrested, and the bidding was only up to about £80.

    My mother doesn't vote, never has done.

    My politics lecturer told us of the only time his mother went to vote. The Conservative candidate came knocking on her door and offered the poor old dear a lift to the voting station, which she accepted from the "nice young man". She got her lift, and voted Labour, and had her Conservative lift home, cackling through her false teeth all the way - pmsl! What a woman!

    I'd better disappear - 3 hour politics exam in 9 days and I haven't even started revising. At least I'll have loads of up-to-date material to throw in for extra marks!
