Thread: *** Barclays Scam Alert ***

  1. #1

Default *** Barclays Scam Alert ***

The scammers are trying to take advantage of the weekends computer crash at Barclays Bank.

I just received an email pretending to be from Barclays Online Banking which asked me to click a link to confirm my account details.

    Yeah, Right.

The subject line is > Balcrays Emlia Vetacifirion < which kind of gives the game away - why the hell would Barclays need to scramble the subject (and all the text) in order to get past anti-spam filters ?

This Scam has been going on for a while and it is not only Barclays but a few other banks as well.

No Banks will ever ask for your account details on line.

Never give your details on line

Wonder how many people do ?

Another Scam currently going on at that is a lottery one saying that you have won the online Lottery and it appears to come from the National Lottery site.

    Cool

A flourishing business for scammers.... I have had so many e-mails from various organizations asking for verification that I'm sick of it! These include: Barclays, Halifax, Woolwich, Bank of Scotland, Ebay, Paypal,......the list goes on.
And yes, some people DO fill in their details! I caught my spouse actually acting on one of these mails, and had to slap his wrists!! He knows better now, but I feel sorry for those who have been caught.

I can see many people falling for this one, given the problems Barclays had with their ATMs etc recently.
