ebid selling bit is quicker than ebay, okay its not as fancy and I am not good at html, but reducing size of pics does take time.
does anyone know of a quicker way to reduce pic size as i have 1000's to do, all my ebay stock will be transfered as soon as i sort pics out.
    good luck ebid.

Look for a free download called IrfanView - it's an image manager and has bulk image resizing - ie select a list of images (of the same file type) and tell it what size you want them all to be.

Then open each in Adobe Photoshop and sharpen them, play with colour saturation, contrast etc until you're satisfied.

Or in Photoshop, you can set up template alterations where the same steps are repeated for ach image with one click

    errrrr first change it to
    http://uk.three.ebid.tv/perl/main.cg...user&start=150

Uner the user name, a list of user-defined categories, and in the upload/input new item or edit item pages, a drop menu for the seller to select their shop category for that item being sold.

Example list from my stuff might be -

    Angling gear
    Bas reliefs
    Ceramic miniatures
    Craft Supplies
    Incense
    Incense accessories
    Gifts & Gift packs
    Hill-tribe handicrafts
    Silk
    Tableware
    Wargames stuff

The idea of the shop is not to replace the "show all items" but to act as filters allowing buyers to see specific ranges offered by a seller within a logical single range list.

As an example, the hill tribe handicrafts may include -
    embroidery,
    silverware,
    handbags,
    coats,
    wood carvings,
    necklaces,
    beadwork etc
    - they obviously would not be in a single main category in the auction-side, but through the shop categories could be brought into a single suitable list whilst excluding everything else from that section when chosen by the buyer for viewing.

The way eBay manage it is they give the seller 20 renameable categories. the categories are databased by number (i.e. 1 through 20) and the number doesn't change no matter how many times the seller renames the shop category (or store department), nor does it change when the seller re-organises the order in which the category names are listed.

example - when set up, category 10 (e.g. incense accessories) may be correctly sequenced. But then the goods offered reduce to more specific items - e.g. incense trays - this may cause it to be out of sequence alphabetically so the seller repositions it to position 12 (simple up/down buttons to change the list order) but in position 12, the database still records it as shop category #10 - this means the seller does not have to go into each item and edit it. It also means the engine can pull the category name from the category ID number - simplifies coding for the site admins and the sellers.

Oh blimey, didn't notice that, nice touch Gaz!

OK, you're on exactly the right lines...but you also need a customisable shop (with link/logo next to ID, for example), which also has customisable shop categories....

Take a look at my "Shop front" on eBay to give you a rough idea of what people are requesting (and note the circular "tag" shop logo next to the Powerseller logo near my ID):

    http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Rainbowcraf...3aFQ3aSTQQtZkm

On the left column are my customised Shop categories, a bit like aisles in a shop. I personally chose and input those names for the "aisles". This view is created only when someone "views my shop". When someone clicks on "my other items" it creates exactly what you have in your example that I have quoted.

I hope you get the idea (and feel free to edit my shop link out, I just wanted to show you (and others) an example of an online auction shop/store).

    I hope this helps

How about a link to the sellers terms and conditions of sale?

Some people put there terms and conditions on they're "about me" page, others have they're terms and conditions listed on third party sites like Squaretrade or the Fair Trade scheme.

How about a small segment (near the bottom???) of the storefront where the user can define the location of their T&C's?

On eBay, you can create up to about half a dozen pages for things like payment terms, postage methods etc etc

The links appear in a menu bar near the top of each page when viewed from the shop, and above each shop auction

eBid provides a full width "About Me" page, whereas the eBay one is the left hand margin down alongside your auction list on the "My eBay" page - without an eBay shop, that's what you're restricted to, so for those without a shop, eBid currently gives more space and flexibility.

But yes, seperate pages for things like that would be useful - I think they should be in a pop-up window (one that only pops up when the bidder clicks the link)

    Thumbs up E-Bid Stores

I think that this is a great idea.
For people who have a lot of different items to sell this will be a God send as they will be able to categorise all of their items which will also make it easier for buyers to sift through the goods and find what they are really looking for.
Please, please, please get this idea into action.

    See ya

Default eBid Store - Terms & Conditions

I think Gaz's idea of new windows for terms and conditions and other store related pages is excellent. If this could be easily customised/assembled by the store owner from a template this would be even better. This way all the essential conditions would be included as well as any 'extras'. Some people's T&C pages got to extremes but some have vital bits missing.
