Thread: Some Advice Please

  1. #1

    Default Some Advice Please

My partner is with child and will pop in the next few weeks. When this happens I will obviously not be in the position to pay in cheques as before. Does anyone think it would be ok to say that I accept Fastpay or otherwise postal orders?. Would that put off prospective buyers?, I just cannot take a cheque and send goods without it clearing as my accounting prudent brain does not compute.

Any ideas or comments would be greatly appreciated!

I can't see any problems offering FastPay and postal orders. You may also like to include direct bank transfers and Nochex.

Best wishes and good luck with the pregnancy! xx

Thanks, is Nochex fairly easy to set up and are any charges applicable for receiving funds?

Nochex is very easy to sign up for.

From memory the charges are 99p to load you account. It's best to load your account with as much as you can possibly afford, then you can send payments free.

Example Load account with £50 and it will cost you 99p

If you then win 10 auctions @ £5, you can send 10 nochex payments at no additional charge. (As you are not sending cheques you save on postage costs, so you will be £1.81 better off if you send the payments first class)

It also costs 99p to send money back to your account (this may be free if it's over a certain amount, can't remember). So either let the funds build up, or use your nochex receipts to spend on other auctions.
The dreams in which I'm dying are the best I've ever had.

    I wasn't far off.

    From Nochex help page.

What are the charges of using NOCHEX?
    - Registration: FREE

    - Sending money: FREE to sending money that’s already in your NOCHEX account

    - Receiving money: FREE

    - Loading money into a NOCHEX account from your bank account: 99 pence

    - Withdrawing money from your NOCHEX account into your bank account: The higher of 99 pence or 1% of the amount being withdrawn

NOTE: You are NOT charged each time someone sends you money, you are only charged to withdraw money from your NOCHEX account to your bank account.

    Example 1
Withdrawing £150 costs £1.50 (as 1% of £150 is higher than 99 pence).

    Example 2
Withdrawing £50 costs 99p (as 99 pence is higher than 1% of £50).

Please also note: NOCHEX has limited the amount any user can load from their bank account to their NOCHEX account to £300 in any 24 hours and £1000 in any 7 day period. The amount that can be withdrawn from a users NOCHEX account to their bank account has been limited to £500 in any 24 hours and £1000 in any 7 day period. *Individual withdrawal limits can be increased subject to review.
