These Facebook groups, can you sell in every group? I've heard of FB Marketplace, is that the only place you can list items for sale?
I started selling on different groups on Facebook 6 months ago. I had success selling stamps on a couple of groups. I tried diecast groups but it's not as easy. You can sell on lots of groups including local community groups - but it does depend very much on each individual group - some won't allow you to sell, others let you sell but want specific sales methods for safety, others want only Obey sales.

Remember whatever you collect there will be a group on Facebook - toys, games, stamps, furniture, radios, - they've all got groups and with research you'll find them and some groups will allow you to sell there.
Hence I told Bitty about the furniture restoration group - its one of many!

As for ebid promotion, I've been using a compliment slip for 20 years saying 'thanks for buying' and giving details of what to do if the buyer has an issue. Works fine, as I then put a sticker on to say - I sell on eBid - however most ignore it. It's only recently that I've started doing it on Vinted, so we'll see how it goes and I'll report back.

Thanks, some useful tips, I must try to fight my revulsion and let Zuckerberg track me all over the 'net. Not ready yet, but when I get desperate enough.

Feedback was a regular thing when we all thought of ourselves as members of a club. Now, not so much. I do still get f/b for about 30-50% of my sales, particularly if the buyer felt I went a little above and beyond. Many people are too busy though and I can understand that.

@BittyBoy, I guess GoldenWonders is right to point you at furniture restoration, a nice piece of lateral thinking. There are also groups for lock collectors. E.g. I've just tried searching "facebook lock collectors' forum" which gives several results. But I'm probably saying something you've already tried.

    @ Johnwash1, @ Goldenwonder

Thanks guys for your effort and help which I really appreciate.

I've found a couple of groups to do with antique furniture restoration but for some unknown reason it won't let me post anything

I think they want me to join their group and be approved before their site will let me post anything.

Did you have a look at Vinterior? Maybe give Etsy a try too?

Have you joined the group?? You have to join and be accepted before you can post - thats in most cases, but a few sites let you join straight away.

You need to start thinking outside obey and ebid, - ask yourselves where would cabinet makers go to find parts, where would they go to sell their products that will give you ideas where promoting your products is best. I'm sure you'll find dozens if you look, then deluge them with details about what you do and what you sell.
Advertising is not a mystery, its obvious, unless you're ebid of course. I've been in Graphics and Advertising all my life - however there are those here that know more about it than I do (LOL).

    @ SCcoins

I've been looking at Etsy but soon crossed that plateform off my list as they now hold new seller's payments for up to 75 days !!! which I really don't want !

They also cater mainly for business/self employed people who are constantly "making stuff" to sell online such as jewelery and crafts.

I am now considering Vinterior as a good place to sell some of my furniture locks... I need more time to study things over there carefully and see what the payment and postage set up is like over there before I decide to maybe give it a go !

Thanks again SCcoins for your help.

Just been studying Vinterior but then when I looked at the selling page I saw number 5 which is basically like how Vinted and eBay now work by paying you after delivery... Only now eBay have now changed this from 06th August 2025 to now paying private sellers within 24 hours instead of keeping them waiting for many long days...

    Screenshot from Vinterior is below:-

There's gotta be another way of making regular sales on here.

I'm going to look at more sites tomorrow like Instagram and X (previously Twitter) and see if I can post anything on there without it getting removed lol

I need a way to get all these keen DIY'ers and specialist buyers to come over here and buy my locks !
