    Thanks SP for the reassurance.

My Post Office staff are sometimes dodgy and parcels sometimes never leave the post office !... except for Special Delivery and Parcel Foce once of course !

It's such a great shame that this site is so laid back and like in the 19th century compared to Vinted.

I really like the setup in eBid of it being easy to list, the convenience of quick buyer payments via PayPal and the freedom and choice to use your own delivery service to get the job done and your sold item delivered safely to your buyer... that is when a sale does actually happen !

For the simple reason of lack of exposure and promotion sales on here are few and far between compared to the likes of Vinted where they are now beating eBay !

If you have a ton of old clothes to sell that are in good order, then Vinted is a goldmine ! as I've seen stuff listed on there and sold within 3 minutes !!! - no joke.

I think all the bitter sellers who have now been stung by the recent changes eBay have now made and by the slow sales on eBay due to the promoted listings scandal are now all on Vinted.

The only down side to Vinted is poor customer services if something goes wrong (they really couldn't give a bugger !) and also slow held payments and their own original version of eBay's nightmare simple delivery !

Sellers love Vinted because it is very difficult for buyers to return anything easily as it really has to be significantly not as described before they will even entertain it (like you bought a pair of jeans and received a shirt instead then they will let you return it if the seller won't).

Buyers love Vinted because everything is so cheap (well most things) and there is a great choice of stuff on there.

Using the favourtes heart thing is a must !... if you're ever going to find the same items you're interested in it again as once the search page changes or refreshes then that item sometimes completely disappears for it not to ever be found again so be warned !

It seems due to heavy promotion and word of mouth that Vinted are now doing so well and lots of ex eBay sellers and buyers are now going there.

eBid and us are now just ghosted and hidden online in the shadow of Vinted and eBay due to a lack of promotion and people having confidence in this market place.

Hello Bitty, got to pick you up on a couple of things.

Firstly Vinted is for 'clothes' - not true anymore, started as that but it's changing as both SD and myself have pointed out. Both of us have had success with stamps and I've had success with diecast as well.
If you search it (which I acknowledge is harder) you find an abundance of interesting and sometimes cheap items - items that are underpriced ! But contrary to that some items are overpriced, AND as I said in my post I sold some stamps that were here for months at £1.65 for £2.65 over there in less than 24 hours. I keep finding items that are of interest, favourite them and a lot are gone within hours!

As for customer services, you only know how good it is when something goes wrong - so far I've not had an issue. My daughter did some months ago - but she sorted it. Being realistic 'any' site can present problems - even here. How many posts of late have I seen with issues that went unanswered?

You are correct that this site needs promoting and advertising, BUT it's never going to happen. As I said months ago, I don't think they could cope with growth and certainly (in my opinion) don't want it, they are happy to make a steady turnover. £70 for a lifetimes membership - mounts up and so do those pennies, which my mum always said 'make the pounds'.

Turning to your own issues - this site is not for you, quality, specialist locks need special venue, where people will search for that type of product. Have you checked out any Facebook groups that may specialise in furniture and renovation? I think that would be more appropriate to your needs. Anyway hoping you get some success soon.

    Good morning Goldenwonders,

You are absolutely right. Vinted have now recently broadened their horizons and added lots of new categories that were not there before.

They had been going since 2008 and were always referred to as "the clothes site" or "the woman's place" but now we can see it's now come along way !

Yes, I really need a different site to sell my antique vintage locks on where there is buyers and interest for such stuff but there sadly does not seem to be anywhere else... only eBay which is now hopeless with their awful new changes !

Have you tried getting onto 'Furniture Repair and Restoration' - it's a Facebook group with over half a million members. Worldwide but Must be worth a go?

There must be 40 odd groups on Facebook - lots on restroration, lots on sales, must be lots of people looking for what you have. All it needs is you to create an identity and put it on each site - frequently!

    @ Goldenwonders,

Thanks very much for that info, That sounds promising.

I will checkout that Facebook group later on this evening when I've got more time online.

First, I hope all you lucky sellers who are selling elsewhere successfully are including a flyer in your parcels promoting all the sites you sell on, including eBid. I have a document, one A4 page, with the same info repeated 4 times and cut up a stack of them with scissors. Not high tech, but it does the job.

These Facebook groups, can you sell in every group? I've heard of FB Marketplace, is that the only place you can list items for sale?
    Click for bargain auctions!

Dropbox for 2GB of offsite storage to simplify your life. Click here, to get an extra 500MB of space!

I think, but I'm not sure that you may be able to include name and details of your shop on eBid or even a url link to get posters from these Facebook groups to come over here and checkout what you have for sale on eBid = Potential sales !

I'll look into this later as ideally I want to keep my listings and sales on eBid due to the fast PayPal payments and ease of postage.

I was including a flyer but I have stopped doing it. A few buyers who bought first day covers from me were sent one and it didn’t result in sales here.

The more I thought about it I foresaw it could cause issues. If I am asking them to look here where the prices were lower it might not sit well with them after they have already paid a bit more elsewhere. I also thought these buyers may be comfortable where they are and don’t want me trying to pull them over to another site to make my life easier. It’s hard to know but I took the hint to stop by the complete lack of acknowledgement from any buyer who received the note from me.

As much as us sellers can be quite stubborn with where we sell sometimes, I think buyers are like that as well, and don’t like change.
