I didn’t want to say this as I’m not here to moan about things on eBid but I removed 28 stamp lots and put them on Vinted. A single buyer there has just paid short of £40 for all 28 lots. I may have got lucky there but I’m finding eBid hard, I haven’t earned my stripes and got those repeat buyers locked in I know that, but I feel like my account is just drifting.
Very well done for getting someone on Vinted to buy all your stamps ! - Now Ebid will be naked ! lol

I'm now getting restless and considering putting some of my locks on Vinted to get a result as here seems like sales only happen once in a blue moon and that's it.

I've heard that from tomorrow eBay are going to start paying private sellers their sales money within 24 hours instead of keeping them waiting for many long days.. but it's this horrible simple delivery thing which I'm not happy with as I want to send everything by Royal Mail Special Delivery but they have removed this helpful option for slow and shoddy tracked 48 Royal Mail where items can get lost or stolen or the postie can just dump them anywhere or not even scan as "delivered" leaving me no cover or proof of delivery !

I am willing eBay to get rid of this simple delivery rubbish and return their site back to normal as I am honestly getting nowhere here with eBid as there are just not enough buyers on here looking for old locks and tool parts.

If I was able to get some sales on here, I wouldn't even look at eBay or Vinted twice. Their rules and policies are ludicrous !

    I hear you.

My Vinted buyer picked InPost for stamps which you know, is odd, but with all these platforms I adjust. I can’t send that like it’s Royal Mail but that’s where a buyer was willing to part with their money. A small InPost locker is still huge, he has his stamps in an A4 hard backed envelope to start with like a Royal Mail large letter but it’s also bubble wrapped and wrapped twice in cardboard. The thing looks like I’ve sent a small painting but (I’ll jinx it now) it will arrive intact and just cost me a tad extra in packaging. I try to be flexible, all these platforms are unique.

I would really encourage you to bend to the different standards of the different sites and just focus on getting the items sold. The buyers generally know the score with the limits placed on the seller these days and appreciate you doing your best with the options that the platforms make available to you.

Thank you btw. It was my Gilbert & Ellice stamps, I still have 15 listings here I’m kicking myself that those 15 weren’t also available to that buyer I think he would have snapped those up too.

I said earlier in this thread that Vinted was the place that is RAPIDLY taking over from Obey, eBid is not even in the race! It really has missed the boat so many times while everyone has been crying out for some form of promotion of this site - all falling on deaf ears.

I too left Obey and tried selling stamps here - with little recent success what so ever - I sold one stamp for 45p - it cost me more to sell it, LOL.
I had 1400 listings here and have let it lapse to less than 800 because it’s pointless.
As I said earlier I started listing in earnest on Vinted around May - and the last couple of weeks it’s really taken off. I have also sold lots of stamps in bundles - some world stamps I had here (for months) for £1.65 sold on Vinted only yesterday ….for £2.95. The buyer put them in a bundle, so they were discounted to £2.65 - they paid more in postage and insurance than if they’d purchased them here. They had been there for less than 24 hours!!!
I’ve made (i think) 41 sales since May and still have less than 95 listings there!
So your stamp sales are not a fluke, it’s all those Obey sellers who left …and went to Vinted. It’s changed it’s no longer just clothes, they are going to destroy Obey if it stays like this. There platform is still poor and needs lots of improvements as it’s not geared for what it now sells - the search engine is poor as well, it’s pot luck finding what you want. HOWEVER that can be fruitful as I’ve grabbed a few real bargains while missing out on others because I made the mistake of making offers when I should have purchased.

Mate tell me about it. The number of users who liked (favourited) my stamps blew me away. I didn’t have Vinted down as a site to sell stamps, because of the postage cost mainly as it has to be tracked. But yeah really impressive results I only listed 28. I didn’t want to be too glowing about I it as it is the eBid forum and I am a newby here. I did give those stamps a good chance here it’s not like I withdrew them after a week.

I really wish this site could do it - but it’s a pale shadow of what it was when I first started here in 2005. It’s gone backwards!
I posted about Vinted on this thread on 17th July - it’s post 90, I said then it was starting to take off. I am slowly moving into differing areas on Vinted, I started pushing the stamps last week - I’ve just checked sold 41 items, 23 of which have been stamp selections, I think 9 Diecast a couple of hard rock pins and a couple of other items. It’s cracking it for me, as I say lots of issues that are poor but I’m selling and that’s all that matters for the moment. Good luck.

    Seconded.

I sell knowing if something goes wrong it’s a nightmare but it’s worth the risk. I’ll happily write a loss off if I needed to, generally people there are nice. I’m sure it’s like here, the forum users are very welcoming I just don’t have experience with buyers but I’m sure it’s the same.

What this site needs is a good app available in all regions. I’ve invested in it with a platinum membership I’d really like to see it work.

I got the impression the guy who bought my stamps was an older gentlemen as we had a chat. Most people have a smart phone now he was definitely on the app as we discussed how to do bundles that way.

Bittyboy I have a mate who works high up in Royal Mail and he tells me things. Except for a few cranks, posties take a lot of pride in their work, whether it’s a second class letter or a Special Delivery parcel. It’s in safe hands 99% of the time.

I use tracked 48 most of the time and never had any issues, always get a scan and photo showing delivery. If you buy postage online via click and drop you can add the recipients email address which keeps them up to date with what is happening with their item. Can't comment on ebays postage as being a business seller I have never used it so it maybe different.

I agree ebid just seems to have died a death since I first joined in 2006. Since I returned in January I've only had 2 sales but brought quite a few items so some sellers have benefited from my being back here. As I'm now retired it is less of an issue and more about clearing my remaining business stock. I will probably give it until next year and then give the rest of my items to charity.
