Default Poll Price field to the Buy Now Available ? for searching listings to add to bucket

Add a price field to the Buy Now Available ? for searching listings to add to bucket
Bulk Edit enhancement. There have been a number of threads with this request over the years. Note that Exporting items and re-importing with revised price loses specific information regarding the item details, plus the resulting spreadsheets are rather large making edits cumbersome.

An on-line selection capability would be a great improvement to create bucket content for bulk edit.

This would provide sellers with hundreds or thousands of different items all at the same price, spread over many locations categories sub-categories and SKU's, to be able to set a permanent revised Buy Now price. (maybe possible to set a temporary sale reduction price)!

This could be achieved by adding a price field to the Buy Now Available ? search data.
When the price field is set to a value >0.00, pass the value to the query selection criteria parameters to match the Buy Now price.

    Example of what currently happens.

The screenshot of the existing functionality when invoked i.e. press the search button results in 1260 listings for this one SKU and BuyNow option. Note there are only 8 price variations in this SKU. (the average would be 150 listings per price, but price range is skewed the higher prices have low counts, the lower prices have higher counts) The bucket content edit functionality to remove non required listings from the bucket is unwieldy, even though a bucket content can be ordered, it is nearly impossible to delete from bucket content the items not to be edited as the sort order result is not quite the same in My eBid>Listings I'm Running.

    Required Functionality

With the requested price selection criteria shown below (0.30), searching results in 480 listings to add to content bucket ready for immediate bulk editing to set the new price in a few clicks.

I am sure this is a worthwhile request. It will save users many hours of fiddling with spreadsheets or ticking boxes, uploading and downloading.

It would be useful, but your proposal doesn't go far enough. It should be possible to specify a range of prices as one of the selection criteria.

And the price edit should allow several possibilities, a specific price, an increase/decrease by a certain amount, an increase/decrease by a certain percentage (rounded to the nearest xx.xx).

Yes agree the web application should be richer with useful features.

Read some where on the boards that there was not much budget for development.

However I was trying to be within the design constraints of the current web application with a simple enhancement.

Everything is being presented from array objects of about 60 elements in depth. Even bulk edit search parameters and the edit terms to be applied are in these arrays.

In the enhancement the terms are a single equality value. i.e. one price. That would result in a single additional argument presented to the query engine. Hopefully the arrays can accommodate this within their existing size.

Adding types of OR and RANGE terms to a query engine hits performance in returning results. Also dynamic updates in re-calculating prices hits performance and would result in multiple arguments having to be passed.

Given the real numbers now of members reading the boards I guess the poll might be answered from about 5-15 members.. Guests cannot vote. Current figures show 13 members & 80 guests online.

Probability is this might never happen.

Just to keep it to the forefront for its last week, then it can quietly pass down the threads and off the radar.

If I could only have one enhancement, I'd rather have the ability to rotate my photo 90 degrees when my camera, eBid, and I don't agree on which way is 'up'.

I have seen many a listing where you have to twist your neck. Start a Poll thread I will be queue to vote.

I'm unsure what such a poll would ask. a) would you like this obvious enhancement to be added to the site, which could be implemented using, e.g. the Imagick PHP library, or b) would you prefer the site to remain naff?

Do you really think the votes would be split 50/50?

Besides, I'm pretty sure I raised this suggestion in this suggestion forum years ago.

When was the last time you saw ANY suggestion in this forum implemented?

My view is that I'm thankful the site still operates, still has the same low fees, and there's a good community here. And therefore I have to adapt my workflow to take account of any downsides. I did already try using Exiftool to preprocess some of my photos to change orientation, but I only scored 2 out of 3! The 3rd photo was wrong even though I thought I'd corrected it. So I need to understand the basics. But I'll get there.

2020 was the last time any suggestion was implemented, and it was with regards to correction of ambiguous eBid boiler plate, which to me would be a cosmetic bug fix rather than an improvement.

Well there you are. As a developer myself I can empathise with people who lose interest in their passion projects. Though mine were never as high profile and widely appreciated as eBid, of course. I'm happy the site shows no signs of being closed down and as long as I can make some sales here I'll be continuing to list.

I made a sale last week worth sufficient that I expect to be billed fees this month. That'll be interesting, the first time I've gone over the minimum payment threshold and will have to figure out the procedure!
