Morning Sales Sleuths, made any great sales this week, you bet you have.

657 UK active stores today, up 1 store on last Saturday at 656. Slow progress, clawing back one from the loss of three a couple of weeks ago

    UK listings today 4,369,897

    USA listings today 3,800,431

    Canada listings today 3,399,191

    Germany listings today 3,400,432

    France listings today 3,390,903

Please note, there will be duplicated figures as one seller may list the same item in a number of countries

Oh yes indeed. Discussing the existence of mods, what they've done, anything at all like that, they really don't like it up 'em, Mr Mainwaring!

I'm probably nearing the end of my 30 day ban, but I've not felt the temptation to check whether I can go there now.

I've found the Reddit ebayuk group very interesting to read. Just discovered y'day that there's a poster there who's actually a very helpful ebay CS rep, not posting officially. Ewwbay. He's seeing a lot of the unhappiness that the changes there are causing.

But again, it's often down to which Moderator is "on duty". Earlier this week I got away with explaining how to upload photos in one post and saying that "I'd been selling for pennies (on Ebid) for years" on another, when not so long ago I got a ban for saying almost the same thing. The reason being 'I was encouraging others to evade fees'. As I say, it all depends on which Mod. reads it and how they take it.[/QUOTE]

I think it all got left up as we were talking about eBid not working for photo uploads

I can't remember which thread it was, I reply mentioning ebid whenever I think I can get away with it. I do remember replying and saying that on ebid it does happen that The Management sometimes doesn't acknowledge a problem until they've fixed it. Then they announce that it's fixed on the "Site Updates" board. But (I think) there was another completely separate issue a new arrival had with not understanding how the up-loader worked here, so I tried to help.

My point was that it is possible to mention ebid and get away without the post or the poster being banned, if you're a bit careful !

If / when I buy from eBay I happen to mention to the seller that I no longer sell on eBay, I use eBid instead. Usually after asking if they are happy with eBay at the moment.

That normally produces a positive response, with no combacks so far.

Suggest you all try that approach as well.

I think you may have trouble with saying that kind of thing in messages. But putting a little message in the parcel with your item, that's never going to be blocked. And it's a good idea anyhow to have as part of that message that you hope the buyer will be happy with the item, will raise any concerns with you directly and that you'll leave feedback for them when they leave it for you.

No trouble so far and I am not asking people to move, or buy from me, just making an observation. I simply state 'I no longer sell on eBay, I have moved to eBid' nothing more than that. if people are interested they will go find it themselves.

I never put notes in packages. When I get a package any note is, as far as I am concerned, part of the packing that just goes in the bin - never ever looked at - sorry to dissolusion people here but that is the reality of what very many people also do.

Oh no, now I'm sobbing! Been including my note for many many years. Still, even if it only works some of the time I'll still do it.

I think you're both right. Selling in a niche (and still having a good memory !) I would sometimes think "that address rings a bell" and would look back at my POPs from the P.O and yes, I'd posted to them before. But mostly there was no bell that rang. Two things that might have helped me.

    1. I write my own labels with a biro, never bought them from obay.
    2. Selling things like vases and bowls it's easy to put my notes inside the items where the buyer would find it hard to miss even if just wanted to bin it.

Mind you I did have a couple of disappointing replies to my notes, asking if I'd move the items over to obay to save them the hassle of opening an account here. I did of course decline, expecting that they'd also expect the same price on obay although their fees were twice as much as here.
