I also wonder how many buyers will search for "another great bundle of 7 inch vinyl london label"? To me the only words that a buyer might use are "7 inch vinyl" and "london label". It's important to put words buyers will write in the search box in your titles. The more you get right the more matches you will score.

There's no 'default' or 'best match' search results here, it's very literal.

All the best for your sales.
And thank goodness for a site with literal searches. I'm fed up to the back teeth with ebay's "here are some that don't match but we're being paid to promote" and "these are good matches but we're not showing you all the matches, click here if you want to see them all". I always always always click on that and hope there's some tally that might tell the site manglers that people really don't like their searches being restricted.

Hmm, sorry about that rant. Seems you hit one of my hot buttons there!

    Good morning John,

so do I, especially when obay tells me "No exact matches found" but if I wade through the never ending lines of listings that are 'similar', have 'fewer words' or were 'also viewed' I often find items that are near to an exact match to what I wrote in the search box, but were ignored. (usually because they weren't Promoted)

If I feel like poking the bear when their cheer-leaders are on their high horse I remind them that the reason I sell stuff here, but less over there is mainly due to one simple fact.

Buyers can find my stuff here.

It took some time and a bit of experimentation to get my listing titles to where they are today and I'd recommend that others take that time to maximise the number of words that buyers might search for and get them into theirs. It's worth the effort because the more words you get right, the more search results your item will be shown in.

I'm lucky that glass collectors look for all kinds of different characteristics of glass. A particular colour, or type of item, one manufacturer or a particular style. If I need a bit of help I look at which other sellers come up in the results and what their titles look like. (Especially helpful when thinking about how to be picked-up by GS.)

To me a 'good' title will show up in the results of numerous searches.

Something like "Art Deco Bagley Green Uranium Glass Candlestick 'Wnydham' pattern" will show up in at least 10 different search results and possibly a few more depending on which combinations a buyer might use.

Art Deco, Art Deco glass, Bagley glass, Green glass, Uranium glass, Candlestick, Glass Candlestick, Art Deco Candlestick, etc, etc, etc.

    Hello All
We have been here a couple of months now, and while we have not had the sales we used to get at "the other place" we are getting sales. The best thing we did was to tell as many of our customers from "the other place" as we could. Thankfully some of them have followed (thank you guys)and we are doing o.k.

You'd be surprised. People collect particular labels, London being a particular favourite. Up until recently when eBay started to go down the pan I sold quite a lot of these bundles or job lots as people often refer to them. Thanks for your reply.

Sorry, I didn't put that too well. All I was trying to say is that more people are likely to search for '7 inch vinyl' or 'london label' than they are for 'another great bundle of'. If no-one is going to search for those words, they're wasting valuable space in your title. Might it not get more hits as something like 'London Label 7 Inch Vinyl Bundle of 9 1950s - 1960s." = more words that a buyer might use? And that the search can match to.

I'm finding sales are starting to happen too. Not as frequently as feeBay, but then you get more in return.

I have noticed a rise in sales too in the last three weeks.
Nearly 50% of the total sales I had made in the previous three months which were 60% down each on the previous two years - same period.

Some new buyers for me but not recently registered.

    Congratulations on your sales . . .

If you are still selling on eBay, enclose a card that you are selling on eBid.NET and your ID here.

I didn't have a lot of followers on eBay, but I would always put in Thank You card and that I sell on eBid.NET with a better price.
