Great. Management summary for us in 30 seconds?

And did they mention Simple Delivery? I've just had a mail telling me it will apply from 15 April. At which time I'll be setting all my items to local delivery only and gradually moving them here. Going to be a pain if I have to rephotograph them though.

Complaints about the sneaky way buyers premium introduces the (inaccurate) fee levels, that it was not economical to sell below £10 and was the reason the strange prices appeared (I did strange prices years ago). Comparison to buyers premium at major auction houses and to Vinted, who did the same thing, but were fully upfront and transparent about the charges.

Strange, nobody mentioned boycoting American auction sites and supporting British ones, perhaps the BBC did not know about eBid; maybe somebody should let them in on the eBid secret?

Hi! It's an 'EBID' morning today here at TheBookingOffice . I've re-activated my EBID account today and will soon be listing all my Isle of Wight focussed railwayana - mostly vintage railway tickets. The buyer fees on EBAY are breath-taking. Buyer bids £2.50 for a ticket and ends up also paying £0.82 'buyer protection fee', £2.28 'ebay simple delivery', £0.45 'ebay VAT' - a total of £6.05 for a £2.50 purchase. The ebay postage label/QR code can't be cancelled - and buyer can't combine orders - a 'technical problem' apparently.
On EBAY I've been known as BESTEVER123 for over 20 years, sold over 5800 items with 100% positive feedback. Tell your friends!! Can I change my EBID username to the same? Anyone know?

    Hi

I think the only way to change your username is to contact support. I did this last month as I too came here from eBay - they sorted me out promptly, but sometimes there is a bit of a wait.

    All the best, Rog.

The most important thing to do is to tell as many of your customers as possible where you are now.

I can't get over the idiocy of eBay who have steadily sacrificed goodwill, in spite of being so dominant that they could have just carried on being loved while still making huge profits. Instead, they have been so greedy that they alienate sellers and now, with buyers' premium, buyers too!

Red face Re: eBay buyers premiums on the BBC

I left in March after 8 years as a top rated private seller. I was banned 3 times for several days at a time for my criticisms on there Community Forum! They plant "Mentors" to sing there praise, but I think they are staff plants.I even wrote and posted a YouTube Video to the UK Chief Executive. Never had the courtesy of a reply even. Oh yes e-bay was born on the backs of the small seller and hobbyist. Bits and bobs you can't fined anywhere else. You know until a buyer gives feedback (not many do) they hang on to your money for up to 14 days. They've tried to copy Vinted and it's backfiring horribly. Private sellers are leaving in droves believe me. Maybe that's what they want. Before here I tried Discogs for 6 weeks and couldn't get a thing listed. Awful. I'm going to stick with ebid and try to build back my customer base

"Simple Delivery" apparently to make postage options simple for the seller. Yes that would be the case for 1st time users, however I find the "Advanced" option just as easy and I far prefer it.
It's also means that ebay will now get a small fee from the courier for having used their services.

As for the change being implemented on the 15th April 2025, I'm not sure that's totally true. I sold a set of Top Trump cards on Saturday (Yesterday) and discovered the postage had been applied via the "Simple" option even though I always picked "Advanced". I had to cancel the sale as ending via their choice of postage option (Large Letter) would most likely have resulted in the case for the cards being cracked/broken as it is hard shatter-able plastic. I always send this sort of item as "Small Parcel", that way I know it won't get damaged.
So I thought that must be a mistake by myself, maybe I accidentally picked "Simple", so checked the rest of my items, all as "Advanced". And lo and behold, another sale today for a set of Top Trump cards, again postage being assigned for the "Simple" option.
Again canceled sale, and re-checked all my listings postage options.

Simple delivery is just another annoyance not only for sellers but buyers and I hate to say this but I doubt the owners here will do anything to take advantage
