Thread: Printing packing lists/shipping labels

    Lightbulb Printing packing lists/shipping labels

I just sold my first item (a board game called Hoity Toity) here on eBid, so I thought I'd leave a note with an observation on my experience.

Generally, I prefer to print a packing list to include with the shipment. I think there needs to be a mechanism that takes the auction data and the eBid purchaser's account data and creates a single letter sheet size packing list that can be folded into a shipping label as well.

I would prefer to see something that folds into thirds and then folds over in half to make the shipping label.

This would also be an opportunity to gain a second exposure with the end buyer and remind them that they purchased the item on eBid by displaying the eBid logo prominently on the packing list (but not on the shipping label portion).

This is just my opinion, but since it would provide uniformity to eBid buyers I really think you should make this available not only to the seller+ accounts, but to all accounts. Again, this is just my opinion and observation, but I think this is a key aspect of the Amazon marketplace.

Hi Cyberpenguin, if you can mock up an example and forward it to us at support@ebid.tv we will look into creating an option in the AAL dropdown for a shipping label.

    Thanks

Definitely a good idea. The option of as default note which could go in invoices would also be usefuly, so you could tell buyers about current special offers etc.

Hi, I am a new seller on eBid and trying to figure out about the Shipping Label process. Once I sell my first item, will I automatically be able to go to and print a label on my PayPal account? Or, do I need to do something else on my end first? Also, is a shipping discount given at all by printing the label at home using PayPal? Thank you for your help in advance. CircleCityLu2

It's not something I do personally, but if you choose Print Shipping Label in the ASL you will be directed first to PayPal, then to Packlink, which creates the label etc. for you.

Shipping discount you can apply in your default settings in eBid or when you send an invoice to the buyer ...

Best way I have found, using a PC, is to create a template then use that for your labels.

On a sale choose 'print packing slip' option, cancel the print, that leaves a document of the order on the screen, copy the address and paste it into your template, select font and size you want from your word processor and print the ammended template.

Important note - Buyers often get their address wrong on eBid, so check it against the paypal address (if you use that payment method). If they differ, go back to the buyer to see which is correct, I have known either of these addresses to be wrong - do not assume anything !

I always print out the Ebid packing slip, double sided for the occasional multiple order, A4 which folds into 2 for UK, into 3 for airmail.
I never print a shipping label. Maybe my age but a hand written envelope looks more personal.
I buy stamps to put on envelopes because most of my buyers look forward to them, but then, I mostly sell used stamps

Glad it works for you, but I'm wary of Packlink. For years there have been threads 1000s of posts long on the ebay community forums with horror stories about Packlink dreaming up outrageous charges a few weeks after. I've never used them, never will.
