she is going to get spoiled isnt she
Just a tad ! But it will be weeks before I will be able to see her, sniff, sob.
I thought I would be civil and asked the ex if he wanted a glass of fizz in the garden to celebrate our grandchild and he actually deigned to accept. But would you believe he actually asked me how I would get down there and would I go by train? When I shrugged and said I suppose so he didn't say anything, not a word about offering me a lift to see our grandchild when he goes. He knows full well I'm not confident enough to drive that far.

Well Grandma glad I made you chuckle,
Congratulations on the new arrival, as for him upstairs and wetting the baby's head, I would have been more inclined to wet his head or popped a little Epsom Salts in the wine, I learnt early on never to give a man a second chance because when you do they just take the Michael!!! Next time don't hold out the olive branch smash him over the head with it. 😀😀😀😀😀😀
I hope you get down to see your grand-daughter soon even if you have to take a relaxing train. Remember the saying 'let the train take the strain'.
I had a google and as far as I can see they are called fuzzy stamens

Hey, Grandma..............welcome to the DOTING CLUB! Well, now you are official! Time to pack up your Grandma duds and some baby goodies and hop on that train that is heading to indescribable joy! You know you can do it, so just do it! You won't believe how amazing you'll feel holding Penelope! Yep! Joy is right. Detach. Your OH seems to like to take digs at your dependence on him yet. You wouldn't enjoy a long car ride with him, anyway! Much calmer on the nerves to take a train. ERMAHGERD! Holding your grandbaby is SO delicious! It's different than holding your own, as you can be more relaxed & focused, since you don't have to think about catering to them for the next 18 years with sleepless nights and tantrums at odd times. YOU get to be Grandma.......the delightful, exalted person that Penelope will be thrilled to see for her whole life! Write her letters........or set up an email for her and write to her there, then, when she's 18, give her the email address and let her read all about her early life. You will be the person giving her quirky gifts, calling to tell her a silly joke, maybe babysitting for a day or two when her parents need a night off.....you'll have a special bond that is so close & different than the ones you have with your own kids. AND ................BONUS...........you can get her the cutest little clothes!!! YEA!!! Give little Penelope a snuggle and a silly face from me when you see her!
Ta-Ta for now!

Thanks for the congratulations troops. My daughter-in-law had to go for surgery after the birth so they have kept her in and are waiting to see if she needs a blood transfusion or if things will settle down. Cadet Malcolm hopes she might be able to go home this evening.
I don't think I will be going for several weeks Private Majesty as not invited before then, so Cadet Malcolm informed me a couple of weeks ago !
