Someone (newly signed up buyer today) has made an offer 1p under the Buy Now price on one of my items. Why would anyone do that unless they were trolling?

The same person won another of my auctions so I asked them to confirm their offer using the after sale contact thing, we shall see what transpires. If they pay (with PayPal) and I send the stuff, then they do a chargeback or whatever, what will be my recourse then?

God Bless and have a great day!!!!
That happened to me last week on two items (same "buyer"). I rejected the offers. Apparently someone has too much free time.
I'm not getting my hopes up for the sale but I'm going through the motions anyway, invoice sent with postage discount, will see what happens next. They did respond quickly to my ASL question asking them to confirm their offer on my other auction, so doesn't look automated at least.

Hmm, now they are bidding on three more of my items, the last of which ends in 6 days. Seems highly suspicious, pondering whether it's worth the risk of cancelling their bids and blackballing them, it's still possible they could be a genuine buyer. If they string me along again after the last auction ends with more bids on items then I'll cancel all sales to them.

Apart from the offer which was 1p under the Buy Now price, this does not seem to me to be suspicious. Your listings have a mixture of selling methods. Some are auctions with a Buy Now and some are just Buy Now. It seems to me that the buyer is prepared to wait for auctions to finish where that option exists. When his current bids finish, you could send an invoice for everything he has bought. This would formalise the situation and give you access to the non-paying buyer procedure.
As the buyer is new to eBid it is quite possible that they are not familiar with the procedures on this site.
Had one last week and was informed by Da Boys that it was a scam and to repost the item. That I did and also blackballed them. Left appropriate feedback.
Well, here we are at the end of the last auction they were bidding on, invoice has been sent for all of the items they won. Not holding my breath but we shall see. I gave them three days to pay the invoice, after that it'll be payment reminders then eBid support I guess. It's an odd one really as they have at least managed to fill in their address (whether it's real or not, who knows!)
