    no idea when i go to activate it it says it cant do it at the present time but cant see that it is stopping anything working

    Sounds as though you may have a hardware change. Assuming we are speaking of W10 then go here to start:

    To check for hardware changes, which might be accidental, press Sindows key and X, select Device Manager and check through the list.

    An update can cause things like this too...check date of last one. If it ties in, try a roll back. (I just read through again and saw my typo "Sindows". I shan't edit it as it seems about right! lol
