I understand there's been recent attacks, but why these extreme measures? Other sites, much bigger than ebid, don't have such intrusive distractions. Can't be good for first time visitors that we want to turn into buyers.

Almost everyone is experiencing just a single, very short, automatic browser check. I think this is far less off-putting to new visitors than the site being unavailable because of an attack.
Other problems are concerning listing activities which would not affect first time or new visitors.

Thanks Gazza. I've not seen any at all today actually. And don't read my comment in any way aggressively or moaning... I'm just remarking that it seems strange, since I've never seen such interstitials (ooo, loving that word!) on other sites, so I'm thinking it might discourage buyers. But perhaps it's just a temporary thing, a site only suffers it when CloudFlare is first introduced, maybe.
Many sellers here, me included, don't see a lot of visitors buying, so we need to make them feel comfortable. That was all I was trying to say.

Well, Cloudflare did it's make you wait while it checks the eBid site when I clicked on my desktop eBid icon to come in here today. I thought that had ended. It looks cheesy, and I haven't run across any other site that does it.
Ta-Ta for now!
