The failure by Talk Talk not to update eBid new IP address in a timely manner has been issue for me.
It remains to be seen if I can access when I get home again shortly.

Pity TalkTalk can't do it's job as efficiently as other providers who update hourly so I believe. Time for a change when current contract expires.

It looks like it was a DDOS attack, very well disguised to make it not look like one and that our hosts hardware was completely at fault. It was our first. We've been up working on it over 30 hours now. Hopefully we will start to see improvements from this point.
    Likely orchestrated by Vladimir Putin.

Of course, the 'I Didn't Do It' kid will deny it - as always.

I noticed that ebid.net is now behind Cloudflare, the popular abuse prevention service. Essentially ebid.net is now connecting to Cloudflare, and Cloudflare then connects to the ebid servers after verifying that the connection is not abusive. I guess it's a necessary evil, because Cloudflare can in some cases prevent legitimate bots (like search engines, or meta shopping services) from connecting to the site.

This was probably some customized DDoS attack, where they look for slow areas of the site and then have thousands of page views per second on those pages, which is enough to over load the site. If you go any forum site, even ones like this one now, and you reload the page 100 times in a second (if you have a special browser that lets you do it), it'll cause the site to stop responding usually.

Could just as easily by Donald Trump. He would deny it also.

Whatever makes you think it's kids! These days it's big business, holding a site to ransom.

I view this attack very positively. Ebid is now big enough for someone to be worried about it. Perhaps the attack was funded by another well known auction site? Not mentioning any names, of course!

ps: if you're using TalkTalk, you must be seriously nuts!

I don't think Virgin Media did much better as I didn't get back in until about the same time as TalkTalk users.

If I had been on my main PC I would have set up to use an alternative DNS service, but I couldn't find the settings to achieve that on my tablet.
