Yes, he's a boy - one of 2 Ginger boys I have. The oldest is 18 years and I'm not sure how old Shoney is because he decided to adopt us several years ago and was full grown then. He is quite the character - loves to attack my slippers while they are on my feet. When he wants to be held, I'd better pick him up or he will jump up and grab me around the waist with both arms!
Although he was a feral cat when he came here, he has adjusted quite well to house life. I can't let him outside because my dominant male mouser wants to fight with him. I keep a large dog crate on the front porch and he is quite content to spend time in there watching everything that goes on in the yard. His "best friend" is my healer/dingo Jake and Shoney seems to have picked up some "dog tricks". When he has to go to the bathroom, he meows at the door and I put him in his crate and he "goes". Jake barks at the door when he has been out to potty and is ready to come in and Shoney has started meowing to let me know he is "done" too!
I brought Jake home at 4 weeks because his litter mates were dying - idiot breeder didn't worm the mom before breeding and all the pups were full of worms!! He was raised with a litter of just weaned kittens, so thinks he is part cat. Now with Shoney acting like a dog, I'm wondering if I have some "trans-species" issues going on??? LOL!!!
