There are quite a few different specialized forums. We can pick a single forum by topic. In my opinion, the plural form is proper.
Of course, in the U.S., we may use plurals differently.

The plural in latin is indeed fora.
When a word is adopted into English, however, it usually follows english rules, so the plural of octopus is not octopedes, but octopuses
"Usually" means fora is used once for every 10 uses of forums, and the main use of fora is in technical and classical circles, or where latin might be in use for nomenclature.
Not all latin words adopted into English follow english rules. Memoranda is more common than memorandums - might be some influence from a mostly classically trained British Civil Service there!
