You haven't tasted figs unless they're fresh.

They are easy to grow too.

I have my fig tree on a south facing fence. It produces lots every year, what you see in the pic is todays picking. We'll get about 5 to 6 times that amount this year. Before I had this tree, I had only ever had dried figs and they taste completely different. Fresh are really juicy and sweet.
It takes a couple of years to get going from a small bush. Now its about 9' tall and the same wide.

Fascinating! I also thought they grew on trees!! So it's bushes, huh? Well. How 'bout that!! I might have to try growing one! I like things you plant once, and harvest ever after!

I always thought that they grew inside biscuit rolls.
I intend to try to train this first tree along the fence it is planted near. I want to propagate other trees from it, layering or cuttings.
The best strategy (I am told) is to limit root growth, and I sort of have. There is a wall with foundation one side and a small patio area the other.
I can see how it would grow into a tree, given time, but I suspect training and pruning will keep it manageable - but still produce a good amount of fruit (which is mainly on the new growth).

Thems dried figs and they have less taste than the fresh fruit. The fresh fruit taste fruity/juicy, dried just taste sugary and bland compared.
