let the bid remain or BIN and not honour the sale, = consequences

What are your feelings on users you blackballed because they bid on your items not realizing you didn't accept PayPal. And now the seller ACCEPTS PayPal but the willing bidder is still blackballed?

If you cancel the sale, you will be charged a fvf. If you are OK with that then go ahead and cancel.

If you are not OK with being charged a fee for selling something that was not sold, then there are other options.

Allow the sale to complete; give buyer adequate time to make payment (I give 7 days usually); send buyer payment reminders (I send 3 during the 7 days); if buyer does not pay, I leave appropriate feedback, and mark them as "NPB" in the ASL (After Sale Log). Two days later, you will automatically be refunded. If you do not receive your refund after this cumbersome process, then contact support for assistance.

Obviously, you have to be willing. You can ask ebid support to cancel the bid or if you don't want to bother them you can add the buyer to your blackball list. You are then asked if you want to remove any bids. Say yes and it will be done. Just remember to remove the buyer from your list unless you are sure you want to block any future buying from you by this person.

I would follow the second procedure, but I'd purposely leave them blackballed.
