Hello! It's time again to take a look at the YDC rules.
For those of you that missed the previous YDC Rule Review installments, you can see the discussion and poll results here >>> YDC Rule Review Part I >>> YDC Rule Review Part II
Currently, Part Two: Rules for the Competition includes rule #2 is:
No item should have an expected value of more than £20.00 (or local equivalent). Higher value items are still welcome in YDC but should not be considered competition entries.
The original idea behind YDC was to sell a low value item for as much as you could using a funny and/or inventive description.
Do we still need this rule? Should the amount be raised? Should the amount be lowered?
It makes sense that there is a cap on the item value to stay true to the original idea behind YDC. On the other hand, if the seller wants to donate a high valued item to help raise more money for charity, is this a bad thing?
My thoughts on this vacillate depending on the moment, so I'm not pushing one way or the other. I am simply presenting the option for discussion and review.
What are your thoughts?
P.S. Currently, this rule only applies to listings entered in the competition.
