Thread: Cocktails!!! and Music

Today is Mother's Day here and the sun is shining for now. We are under a Flash Flood watch.

I have just returned from a neighbor's for lunch. Her niece, who was my buddy in Jr. High, is here visiting from Idaho. Always good to see her. Several people broke their cameras taking pictures of me. Here is a picture of My mom and Dad and my X's Mom & Dad taken on our wedding day. They have all passed now. But Happy Mother's Day where ever you may be. My folks are on the left.

Trish I hope you are feeling better. I hope the rest of you have not caught her lurgy (sp).

Pos, anytime you wish we can go for a ride on a big green tractor.

    Greetings
Been suffering with vertigo over the weekend so not been very active!

Wyo, thank's for the offer, next time I am in Wyoming I'll drop by
I've never seen tractor pulling in real life but have seen it on TV.
I went to the Sangudo Carnival in Alberta Canada back in the nineties where they had similar events but with heavy horses pulling weighted sleds instead of tractors.
It was like going back to the wild west with allsorts of horse-related events including chariot racing on a figure of eight track!

It's a month since my ex died, how fast has that gone by?
The lads are coping well and are getting on with their lives, they have decided what to do with their mum's old room, but they don't feel ready just yet.

Need to go and lie down now to help relieve my dizziness.
    Graham

Well, hello to everyone. I'm on kidwatch duty again tomorrow 7.00am - 5.30pm - then I have to serve dinner for the lot of 'em - as when daddy collects the babes he stays for his dinner as well!
I've had a really poorly chest and sinus infection, felt like poo but I've fought it off a bit I think. I refuse to take any more antibiotics - I would rather my body heal itself naturally, if possible.
    Oooh, guess what?!
Today, after months and months of too'ing and fro'ing I have actually been discharged for 9 months from the dentist ... hurrah!
Got the new side teeth fixed in place - no plate - and they are brill, I can eat with them in, no probs. Had a bit of cosmetic dentistry today to shorten one of my front teeth and have the one next door to it filled - again. Sad thing is, when I started to eat my lunch, I crunched something - it wasn't my soft cheese bap - it was the filling from my tooth .... doh! I guess I will have to let my dentist know the filling didn't last very long.

Now PosBear - I can hardly believe that it's a whole month since your ex passed away - and I feel relieved for you that your sons are coping and moving on - now you just have to look after yourself me duck. Do you have meds for the vertigo? My Lucia has suffered with that also - there are exercises for Meniers Disease (google it!) and travel sickness medicines that maybe could help you cope. I sure hope that you will feel better soon. Big hug (((((xxx)))))

Aww, Wyo - just loved the pics of your folks and your DS - I see that he loved the tractor best of all! Hope you are getting some decent weather now, and are also thinking of serving up another crock pot of good tasty fodder and home baked bread that you can share with us all!

Old - we had Mothers Day way back in march, but I would certainly appreciate that lovely tray of goodies delivered to my bedside any day!

Books, buttons, how are you? Have you been listening to any good music lately?

Lol buttons .... you always make me laugh!
I know exactly how you feel. My OH is constantly driving me to drink (?? say no more .. !!) who said that doesn't take much -
I'm so weary of his stoopid mistakes - lost his TSB card, should have used it to get 5% cashback on all transactions - he used his Barclaycard instead - didn't tell me 'till I questioned him why Barclaycard was being used so much.
He keeps buying reduced food from Tesco and co-op even though the freezer is busting at the seams - he reckons he is saving money in the long run. Half of it has to be binned - so where is the savings?
He has shoved two enormous blerdy great fish in the freezer - complete with eyes open - rainbow trout I think he said they were - given to him by the members at the RBLC where he does the bar - if anyone else ever has the nerve to knock on my door to bring a dead animal, bird or fish here he will have it served to him in a manner that he wasn't expecting - trying to be polite now!
I could list so many things he does that annoy me it would bore you to death .... plus I'm getting cross so I will shut up before I go downstairs and strangle him as he sits in his armchair goggleboxing as usual.

Hope everyone is ok - very quiet here just lately.

No snow for about a week here. The sun is out and shining today, so far. We've had some thunder storms and rain.

I use a West Bend "bean pot" as a bigger crock pot. I have a 3 1/2 quart crock pot, but the West Bend hold 5 quarts, so I use it for the larger recipes. The lid was getting pretty icky. Had rust around the edges and the underside was covered with hard water deposits and I had been shopping for a replacement. I got to digging in the cabinets and I found a glass lid that fits very nicely - Yay! No need for a new pot now. I have chicken, potatoes, carrots, peppers, onion, garlic, tomatoes and broth in it today. I am debating about adding some pasta - maybe not. Hmmmmm! I still have some time to think about it. Maybe tomorrow some beef and noodles.

Make sure the trout has been gutted before you cook it as it will have maggots in, just to cheer you up, me i would gut it, de bone, cook it with it's head and tail on, remove head and tail and tuck in, no I am not a sadist, just love rainbow trout. Brown trout are horrible, they taste like dirt unless you stuff them with sommat.
Mike does the same with food, and he never looks at dates, he also goes over the top with fresh stuff, veg and fruit that won't last, like a load of bananas and i cannot stand bananas with any brown on whatsoever, they have to have some green on.
Men well I am sure you would not bore me as i think I have the biggest plonker I could find. He was going to cut an electric cable earlier, i said have you put the test meter on to see if it's live ? he said do you think I should, i will never know how i resisted the temptation to say no just cut it

Buttons - I can't even bear to look at the trout let alone gut it, de-bone it and cook it with head and tail on - I'm leaving that to him.
I've had enough of creatures that have been slaughtered to eat and ended up in my freezer - I'm gradually going really off eating meat although I don't mind the occasional decent steak.

Wyo, glad the weather is improving for you.
Glad you found a suitable lid for the pot - looking forward to holding out my bowl when the fodder is served - (don't add pasta, I don't like it! It feels like slugs knocking about my mouth!!! lol!!!)
