Thread: Cocktails!!! and Music

    Default Re: Cocktails!!! and Music

It's a chilly and rainy day here with more predicted for tomorrow. Perhaps some sunshine on Friday. Thursday and Friday will be work days as it's vacation time and we're trying to make up ahead.

I've been rather ticked off for the last 2 days, I had some parts returned as broken - and I can't see a thing wrong. I sent the refund and blocked the customer as he's been rude and discourteous all along despite my attempts to accommodate. My mother used to say "Some people will complain if you hang them with a new rope."

It's good to see the rest of you have been having some good times.

G'day all - that's tough wyo, but you've done the right thing. Just block 'em & move on!

I'm still waiting for a surgery date, can't be too far off now???

We had a line or two of severe thunder storms go by yesterday arvo & evening, but yours truly got out of it lightly with only about 3mm of rain.
The strong gusty wind that came with it was a worry for awhile though.

Here's a couple more orchids in flower ATM. I can't take credit for the first one, as I've only just bought it & was in flower when I unpacked it.
I've just re-potted it as it was sent bare root. It's a species Dendrobium nobile which is native to southern China, Himalayas through Indochina to Vietnam.

Next is Vanda tricolor var insignis also a species & endemic to the Lesser Sunda Islands of Indonesia.
This flowered for me in July & I posted pix then, but I believe it's better this time. Enjoy!

Aww Wyo, sorry to hear that about the horrible rude buyer - you were quite right to block him.
Super pics Old, those orchids are just amazing - you must be very proud of your collection.
Hope you don't have to wait too long for your surgery appointment.

I have been ill again - can you believe that? Took to my bed Tues afternoon, felt so ill. Shivering, sweating, headaches, couldn't lift my arms. I have had nightmares and hallucinations, and my body was literally steaming.
I only managed to get up today (The YDC was calling me ...lol!) but I feel so dizzy and weak, got absolutely no appetite. I think I may have had some form of flu or virus, I'm so tired and need to lie down so I will say see you later - hopefully tomorrow will be a better day. I'm getting really fed up with myself!

Sorry to hear you're crook Trish. Make sure you keep the fluids up, you have to guard against dehydration in such events.
If not better in a couple of days, get to your GP.
I have felt like that on occasion, but it's usually self inflicted.
Yes the orchid collection is slowly building again & I'll have some more pix soon, one in particular I'm very proud with myself 'cause I've managed to take it from a baby straight out of its seedling flask & it's about to flower for the first time. (and its siblings)

Glad to say I'm feeling much better today, still got a muzzy headache, at least I'm up and I've been a walk around the garden. It's a beautiful, crisp autumn morning, everywhere seems so quiet - I expect everyone is taking advantage of the extra hour in bed, with the clocks going back.
I was up about 6.30 because my body told me it was time to rise and shine - made a cuppa, read the papers, and I think I'll have another cuppa now!
Old Rip Van Winkle is snoring away - never misses any opportunity to have a lie in or an extra snooze

It will be great to see more of your orchids Old, I'll show your photos to OH, who will be envious of your collection, for sure!
    Catch you guys later ....

Glad you are feeling better, Trish.

I have spent the whole day with my nose in a book, or rather my Kindle. Finished The Gordonston Ladies Dog Walking Club (a murder mystery). It's a mystery as to who done it and who the victim is! And finished Unleashed - the sequel, where you learn the victims and who done it and there's one more. Later, enough for one day.

It's cooler here now, highs to be in the 50F range next week.

    Good morning

What a week! I am glad to get back to some sort of 'normality' today!
Last Tuesday evening little Mikey was being carried downstairs by his mum when she slipped and fell down the stairs, probably 5-6 steps from the bottom.
She is also 5 months pregnant. My son was at work and came home at 8:15 to find them at the bottom of the stairs.
Cutting out the details, all concerned are out of hospital and are nearly fully recovered, nothing broken, just bruised.
During her stay in hospital they regularly scanned the bun in the oven, they found out that they will be having a girl
So 2 of my sons will be second time fathers in March! They will then have a boy and a girl each.

I stupidly cooked a couple of out of date eggs on Saturday, I'll leave the result to your imagination.(clue in following song title)
It was no yolk at the time, but I am all white now that I've come out of my shell.
I'll close the door on my way out

    Cuppa anyone?

Oh crikey Pos, yep - you sure have had a eggasperating experience groan!
Very pleased to hear that little Mikey and mum are nearly fully recovered. What a terrible shock for your son to come home to see his wife and child at the bottom of the stairs - he must have been worried stiff. Delighted that the expected baby in waiting is safe and sound and little Mikey will have a sweet baby sister.
Oooh, I cannot imagine how you must have felt eating those bad eggs - I'm absolutely dead careful, I always do the float test - pop your egg into a container of water -
if it sinks and sits horizontally on the bottom, it’s really fresh. If it tilts up halfway, then it’s not so fresh. If it sits up in a vertical position and floats, then it is really quite stale.
A choon to make you titter http://bussongs.com/songs/diarrhea-song.php (Glad you're all white now!)

Hey Wyo, glad you have had a nice relaxing day with your kindle. I'm supposed to be reading my 'new' book - The Taxidermist's Daughter.
I bought it as soon as it was released for sale, and I have only managed to read 20 chapters so far. I must get my nose stuck into it as I keep forgetting what I have read if I leave it for too long.

Right, I have to make more candles for my repeat buyer, think I will make myself a couple of nice Christmassy smelling ones while I'm at it!
Catch you later - have a good day y'all.

Oh wow Pos - glad the family are now OK.
On the other front - I'm guessing it was a bit like the end of this clip!

LOL at that video, wasn't as extreme as that luckily!

All is well in the Poscar family world, no problems reported in from my sons, sometimes I feel like an agony aunt for them.
I should be grateful that they consider me wise enough to talk to, but often I would like there to be a phone call simply to just have a chat.

Today I shall be carrying on re-organising my bedroom/work area/storage shelves.
Most of my ex-shop stock is still in boxes so I need to get the boxes emptied and put on the shelves in some sort of order.
I've got extra shelving arriving today, hopefully that should be enough!

and a brew, for you too.....

    Have a great day
    Graham
