I find that rather sad that people have to do that and don't enjoy the world around them anymore - what happened to enjoying architecture or countryside ?
It really annoys me if we are driving somewhere and my boys are in the back seat with their eyes glued to a screen instead of looking at what is around them - a sign of the times !

I saw this item on a different website (either yahoo or msn news). In it they included a phot of the lane and what surprised me was that it was about the same width as cycle lanes in this country (just wider than the cycle,so if the numpty was not looking where they were going they would walk out of it and also potentially into people in the lane.

Had a middle-aged woman walk into me a few weeks ago - head buried in a phone. Saw her coming and thought 'Well, I'm not moving' so stopped and braced for the hit. She bounced off me and ended up on her backside. Looked down and said 'The next thing you walk into could be a bus'.

These people just don't care. What if they knock an elderly person over and they break their hip (often a death sentence in old age)? I and she are both at an age when we can still bounce. The elderly can't and also can't as easily dodge these idiots.

LOL Mel! Good for you! I hope she learned something from this. You're right about the elderly, too, falls can be very dangerous. Perhaps the idiot lane isn't such a bad idea after all, then the rest of us can avoid them.

Now if they'd only make a similar idiot lane on the roadways for all the idiots who think it's cool to speed, tailgate and not use turn signals, the rest of us could drive from place to place without worrying about getting into an accident every 10 seconds...

On Saturday In Accrington.A Black Labrador Guide Dog Took His Blind Elderly Man Around A-Boards.The Result Was The Heavy A- Boards Toppled Onto The Elderly Man.2 Ambulances And a Police Car.The Man Looked Very Critical.Initally They Let The Black Labrador into the Ambulance.Then They They Took The Black Labrador Out.(The Dog seemed Concerned and Excited) Thats Why I fear For Dogs Owner Not Being So Good.
