Shouldn't eBid have some sort of software that picks up the word eBay in a listing title?

same for listings..

software like that is notoriously difficult (at least one piece of software makes it impossible for someone to mention a perfectly decent English town called S****horpe). eBid rely on reporting for this. So, if you care enough to post this, report offenders as you find them.
P.S. Amend that - to "at least two pieces of software"![]()

I am doing it via this thread, the thread is for suggestions, I am suggesting using software to catch the word eBay.
I don't have time to report over 700 individual listing titles or over 100,000 item descriptions.
Madelaine, the software that picked up on the word S****horpe is built in to the vBulletin software.
I am sure that software coding could be used to pick out certain words on eBid's website.

And with the boot on the other foot:

Unlike you, Poscar, I'm not totally convinced that software can be made to remove ONLY references to one word, without making mistakes.
Yes, I know the example I gave is built into V-bulletin software. I've seen this happen on other sites. That was my point. It's making a mistake! The first time I can across it I was trying to quote the Royal Artillery motto which is the latin for "Where right and duty leads" but includes the same 4 letter sequence. Now.. consider... how many words contain the four letter sequence you are discussing?
It's just not that easy to fix.

I remember trying to list a figurine of a Blue Tit on eBay once and it wouldn't allow the word Tit. I think their were other innocuous words that fell afoul of the auto-censor. Made it hard to list some perfectly normal objects. No idea if it has improved (and don't care anymore).
There are instances where it would be perfectly legitimate to mention eBay in an eBid listing (and vicky verky), so simply erasing every instance would not be right.
This instance is simply ignorance/laziness on the part of the seller and a consequence of making it easy to transfer listings in bulk. You could drop a note to the seller (though that it not always well received) or report to eBid admin for them to decide if the seller should be required to change them or have them removed.
I'm not aware of any rule that outlaws mentioning eBay, just not live links to it.
