    Spot on, Zonkers! That's why I made the remark about memory lane and "lilac" and "magnolia" words for shades you and I would rarely use - but some love to differentiate. I have to suppress a chuckle when some program informs me that a photograph has umpteen thousand different colours. It does not...it contains just the normal primaries in differing proportions to produce different hues or shades...but not different colours!

    We all know what a sputnik is...but the day before the first one went into space we had no such word!
    I had it, but until the day the Russians launched it there was never the opportunity for me to use it.

    Sorry...I am sure you did...but until it was launched it remained in the Russian Language. After the launch English adopted it, not immediately of course, but very quickly.

    It was - once I caught on! Trouble is at my age I tend to think of things as "only yesterday" so it takes a few minutes to catch up on over half a century!
