Here's the answer to the fish question - copied from the Hancock forum:-
Pennsylvania Game Commission
Why are there so many fish in the Hanover, Pa. nest?
See the HanoverEagletNews; insight from Codorus State Park staff below:
The fish in the eagle nest are called gizzard shad. When this species gets overcrowded in the lake some of the population dies. The dead fish wash up along the banks. The eagles have spotted them and taken them back to the nest.
Still lots of food in the Hanover nest.

They took one back to their nest yesterday that was still flopping around....gadzooks, if I could only catch fish like those eagles...
I had never heard of gizzard shad before.

Marie.
Gizzard shad is a member of the herring family and native to North America.
There are some that use it for a food source, some use it for Striper bait, They eat zoo plankton and are very plentiful in some lakes and large river. 10 to 15 inches may be their normal sizes.
