Thread: remember the smurf wool ?

  1. #1

Default remember the smurf wool ?

Well you all told me to wash it in the machine before i used it to remove the dye, as I was washing whites and i has some pale pink that needed a wash from the same lot I bought from Penni, so I did 6 balls of pink first in a wash bag and packed together well and here is the result.

I did say at the time that my washer was a USA top loader too big and clobbers stuff too much for kind of gentle washing it needed but i gave it a go and got this

I'm in the USA and my machine has a delicate setting and I would choose low water and slow spin. I've never tried it on Smurf Wool but works great on other things. If you are going to try to untangle this I sure hope you have friends you can invite in for tea and conversation while you work! LOL Wish I lived closer.

I had sheets in with it youme, next time I will wash it in the sink, the machine is too big really for a normal house, we bought it when we had our fancy dress shop. the good thing about it is i can wash my big bed quilts in it, It must need to break soon as it must be about 11 to 12 years old now, just got hubbys coat in it at the moment getting a good bashing.

Thanks for that Penni, next time i will wash it in the sink and bash it up and down with my spud basher.
I have managed to get the two balls of pink fairytale done but had to cut some but only into 5 smaller balls instead of the original 2. of course it's the other pink i wanted to knit with and thats a right mess.

edited to say that photo is about 8 to 10 times smaller than the mound I have.
