    Default Anyone had kidney stones?

Do they cause a pain that wraps around from the small of your back and extends down the front of your upper leg muscle (rectus femoris).

I don't need to be told to see a doctor. Last time I did I had a load of invasive tests (no man should have a camera shoved there) and scans and was told I didn't have any - only to pass one a week later.

I'm more interested in if the leg pain is associated with kidney stones. I've read that the pain can extend into the groin area, but mine is definitely running down the leg (a bit like a pulled muscle).

redkiteshoard would probably be the one to help you there Mel. He's going through his second lot of treatment for kidney stones at the moment and also has a medical background. I would send him a PM.

When my Dad had kidney stones a few years ago he had the radiating pain you describe, down the leg and around the middle; from what I've read and heard, that's classic kidney stone pain.

Oh and I used to be a nurse in my previous incarnation.

Best wishes for many sales to all,

    .

I've had quite a few of them + a calcified bladder stent at the time as well (prior to nephrectomy)... no leg pain though.

    .

edited to add - stones were surgically removed along with kidney but prior to that I had an extremely red, swollen & painful big toe (for months). Tests for gout were negative. Once stones & kidney were gone toe was fine!

So it isn't inconceivable to me that leg pain could be associated with stones.... our bodies all react differently I suppose.

I'm not shaped like that - if I was I wouldn't leave the house.

The pain goes more down the front of the leg, wrapping round from the small of the back. Guess I'll have to ask the doc again, but I am reluctant to get on the same merry-go-round as last time.

I have also now reached that age transition where the answer "It's a virus; we can't do anything about a virus." to all ailments has become "It's old age; get used to it.".

I know the feeling well Mel, all I can say is they will get old one day, lets just hope they get the same treatment as us, I am going to see my GP this week and i have written Typed everything out for him and will make sure he puts it in my medical records folder as i am so fed up of being given the brush off.
