I've recently discovered 2 animal charities which I'm spreading my support to Hillside Animal Sanctuary and Redwings Horse Sanctuary
No animal is too big or too small for Hillside, who are involved in the rescue of domestic, wild and farm animals, they also investigate animal welfare in the farming industry.
I have a spare small 2015 Hillside calendar so have listed it for this months YDC
I have a liking for donkeys and have adopted Dancer and Prancer from Hillside, they were among 5 donkeys (the other 3 are named Dasher, Cupid and Blitzen) rescued from France in December 2007 they were destined for the slaughterhouse and would have ended up on an Italian restaurant menu. A common story for some of the animals at Hillside.
Redwings has rescued horses, ponies, donkeys and mules, I'll be adopting a donkey named Del Boy from Redwings in April. The great thing for me about Redwings is that is close enough to travel to so I'll have the opportunity to meet Del Boy and the other rescued animals. :-)
