Is it really news?

Lots of "news" is not news - unless the weather is very severe, it should be confined to the weather forecast, but there are lots of other things - reporting on things that were said on radio or TV progs (endlessly!), reporting the obvious "It's a bank holiday - lots of people went away" or "The Royal family went to the chapel at Sandringham on Christmas day".

Drives me crazy - at the same time serious stuff in countries we are bored with is ignored.
