    Default Dealing with cold callers!

I know all about TPS but still get many calls So I gave up. I accept the calls and talk to them but.........Well I wish you could hear my responses. The last one was some Indian lady So I broke into an Indian accent. To which she replies "I'm sorry I'm not understanding you" I said Understand this "Still Indian" I can't understand you I'm putting the phone down. Bye

LOL! I'm on the supposed Do Not Call Registry but still get cold calls all the time, guess nobody bothers to check that before dialing.

My favorite response was one a friend told me many years ago when he used to get cold calls. They'd ask: is this the owner of the house? And he'd say: no, this is the burglar. We can talk, but you'd better make it quick as I have to get out of here before the owner gets home.

Needless to say he didn't get many repeat performances.

Best wishes for many sales to all,

When Frank next door was alive, he used to say " I'll just go and ask my carer "!

I now have caller display and if I don't recognise the number, don't always bother to answer. If I do and they say can I speak to Mrs W***, I reply "I'll just go and get her" and wander off leaving them hanging on

Or you can say "hello" repeatedly and see which of you hangs up first!

I'm not sure how your system works over there, I recently found out about robot calls.
I read, when you receive an automatic call immediately tap the # key many times and that messes up the computer system calling.
It's the only way I am able to immediately shut off a robot call, other wise the call will tie up my phone until it's complete.
I have tried hanging up on them and picking up again, message is still continuing until finished.

Didn't know this, thanks for sharing. IMHO the robocalls are even more annoying than the human ones as you can't shout obscenities at a robocall, (well, you can, but it won't hang up).

... and you cant have your name taken off any randomly generated robot calling :-)

I have had to give up answering the phone as the amount of calls per hour is beyond a joke.
With the mobile if its unknown it does not get answered.

However yes when your in the mood the confusion you can create can be amusing

The way I get over these calls is by silence. I put the phone down and walk away leaving them talking to themselves.
No one can talk to silence and t's not costing you money.

a lot of these calls are random generated these people who use machines to ring thousands of numbers a day they dont need to talk to you to make money they just need to know if its a " in use live phone " these live numbers they then sell on to companies who will ring and try to engage you, as others have said just dont pick up if you dont recognise or number with held .
