Last antibiotic taken last night sarge, don't really seem to have cleared it up, well they haven't in fact, Chemist friend said to give it 24 hrs from last pill and if no better ring him out again, so I am now on hot lemonade, vick, ibro, etc and have taken out a standing order with kleenex.
Phew, been rushing round all morning trying to get the place tidied up after the Cadet's birthday yesterday and before my cousin and his wife arrive. At least we are going out for a pub lunch so I don't have to cook this time which is something.

Wow nothing like a Good Pub Lunch, here in Australia they call them counter Lunches ,
They got the name from when the Customers came into the Pub at lunch time , and drank at the Bar
they would order a Lunch at the Bar ( Counter ) and eat it at the Bar , So Counter Lunch was Born ...
Nice Tradition , I am sure the Old dart have Great English traditions we could share here in Australia .
Love the old English , Irish Ways .

Do I remember once that women weren't allowed to go into a bar or sit at the bar in a pub?
Yes that is right women where not allowed in the Bar , thus the ladies lounge was born, then there was the saloon bar as well ...
How things have changed ! for the better of course .
I remember here in Scotland that women were not allowed in a pub on their own and never in the bar. There was normally a wee room called the snug that was not much bigger than a cupboard and the women could go into it . You could also buy a ""carry oot" in it before there were many off licences i think. I can also just remember pubs closing at 10pm and not being able to drink on a Sunday unless you were a "bona-fide traveller" and then only in hotels.

Yes here in Australia up to the late 60's the pubs use to close at 6.00 pm Closed on Sundays.
And in the bar all the men would come up to the bar @ 05.55 pm and would want their Pots filled with beer and also would buy a Extra one
and they Called That the 6 o'clock swell ..
What some folk did was go to the international Airport for all the bars would be open for business..
