Having downloaded Statcounter - after much difficulty I may add - I now find that the VAST majority of visits are from BOTs, aka Mountain View, California.

Can anyone tell me why this is - in layman's terms please - and whether there is any point at all to having Statcounter?

thats the home of many high tech internet companies in silicon valley, theres a branch of the CIA there too,

there probably stalking you ready for the TTIP trade agreement, knitting patterns are on the wanted list

I have the Statcounter app on my iPhone and it normally tells who is actually looking. Most of my visits from Mountain View are from Google. Guess CIA are not interested in me.

Yes Mountain view is usually the Google Bots. Look on the bright side at least your pages are being indexed.
