I ask because over at 'the other place' they want us to make refunds available, but now with the new 'defects' system, as I understand it (not fully) we are penalized in our ratings for anything after the sale - like partial refunds/refunds. I'm not sue if it's e--y proper or paypal. I'm just waiting for my few remaining things to sell or pull them after they reach the end of their listing renewals.
Good to know, Maelbrigda! Just trying to make some decisions about how to handle any overages, etc.
Thank you.
eBid is NOT like eBay!!! There is no "defect" system here.
Sometimes I make a mistake on the shipping weight (or find a smaller box that will work) and I refund the difference if it's more than a few pennies. There has NEVER been a problem on PayPal or eBid. PayPal even refunds me for the appropriate percentage of their fee. Since eBid doesn't charge us a fee on shipping charges, they are not concerned with the refund.
This may be because eBid is not the owner of PayPal, so PayPal has to treat us fairly or risk losing our business.
I have no hesitation making refunds when appropriate.
Rarely sell on Ebay so don't know whether they dislike refunds.

On ebay, as things stand, if a seller sells an item, and for what ever reason needs to issue a refund, they will get a defect automatically, unless a case (now called a request) to cancel the transaction and to select buyer is returning goods for refund, even though buyer and seller know that no return may be needed, if the seller selected any other reason or don't open a request, then that is an auto defect.
