Thread: An Unpleasant Surprise in New PayPal User Agreement

They have been on this for months, I had this out with them stating they cannot do this as I am paying for your services in fees and also have no right to hold money outside eBay, if I sell on my site its down to my returns policy and not there's.

There reply ... Its not our rules its the trading rules governed by the UK distance selling regulator, they are just going inline with the new rules even though they don't have to because they are not UK based.

And also did you all know that YOU the seller have by law now got to pay return postage, you CANNOT have on your returns policy " Buyer Pay's Return Postage "

I recently sent for an item from a small catalogue company and i had to pay for return p&p. Thankfully i rarely get buyers returning items the last return i had was 6 knitting patterns because the buyer thought they were getting the items already knitted!

No you don't. If an item is being returned under the new 14-day "changed my mind" legislation, the buyer has to return it at their cost.

Seriously, would you say you have changed your mind and pay return postage or would you say " NOT AS DISCRIBED " or NAD and don't pay return postage

    Really sorry.

Its the original postage for getting it to your customer you have to refund, regardless of reason

The trader has to refund the basic delivery cost of getting the goods to you in the first place, so if you opted for enhanced service eg guaranteed next day, it only has to refund the basic cost

I'd like to do away with PayPal altogether. Other expenses aside, the 3.4% + 20p from your gross is too much for small items.

You need to get a Paypal micropayments account. Rates are 5% + 5p. Cut off point for advantage is just below £10.

Reading the EcommerceBytes blog and wondering how to replace Paypal - has anyone registered for Paym (payment via mobile phone)?
Would it be possible to use on here as a payment method?
Interested in any comments with regard to using this method.
    Many thanks.
