Thread: Curious....Pinterest??

  1. #1

    Question Curious....Pinterest??

    G'mornin all

It seems every time I link a listing / re-listing to Pinterest the no. of views instantly go to from zero to 4 !
Is this normal / typical ???

Does anybody know if most views (& sales) originate from pinterest rather than potential buyers simply browsing or searching eBid itself ??

Not having a facebook a/c myself (its far too sociable for a MOG!)........also wondered just how much interest / business does FB generate?? Is it that worth joining for the smaller seller??

    (Doh!....I'm 5'8" before you ask!! )

    hi,

ive noticed that too i pin practically everything i list if i dont pin a listing sometimes i dont get any views at all.

I have had sales from pinterest i know this because i have asked my buyers how they located my listings.

I do get sales from facebook my lastest was several months ago in fact i had only just listed the item posted it on facebook and it was sold in 10 mins. (ebid has a page on facebook for ebid sellers to post to.)

Anything is worth joining if it generates a sale.

i find showcasing your items on blogs can generate sales too.

I also find my listing images from pinterest and blogs usually show in google images quite often mine appear near the top as do other ebid sellers items.

The feedback from your Pinterest buyers is good to know....encouraging news!

    But FB??
One sale in 10mins but nothing since for some months??
I thought that was going to be the next big thing regards selling and giving TOS a run for its money
Have seen the link you mention...will have a go at that b4 long I think!

Re facebook Im guessing but i assume the more friends you have who look at your items the more potential sales? I prefer pinterest for the reason i stated.
For example i have several vintage silk handkerchiefs for sale so if you put that into google search you will see that i have 2 on the first page (1st 2nd from top) so chances are anyone looking for such an item would probably go and have a look at mine therefore that potential buyer could then go and look what else i have and even look at other sellers items.

When an item is linked on Pinterest the views will instantly go up because a few bots will arrive from Pinterest to gather the information needed for the item to show up on Pinterest.

The vast majority of views will come from Google and people browsing on eBid. Facebook and Twitter will most likely work if you have an established custom base that can be alerted of new products being listed. Pinterest and Google+ allow you to target a 'relevant to your listing' audience.

I wouldn't get too hung up about the view count. If a product gets 50 views within eBid - 30 views on Google and only 2 via social media, which is the best one? The answer is: Whichever one provides the buyer and I would want to make sure I maximise my listing to find the buyer wherever they come from. I would always happily swap 100 browsers for 1 buyer. Pinterest views can be low, but they can highly relevant = much more likely to purchase.

I consider the views as footfall (rightly or wrongly)....and the greater the footfall the more chance of a buyer

And yes, you can't beat have a happy buyer! lol

Its interesting how all the different aspects/sites gel together though....and it's especially good to see that TOS does have some competition!

Their virtual monopoly must surely be coming (has come!!??) to an end
