Things we think we know because we hear them all the time aren't always true. Politicians know that. That's why they keep saying the same things over and over. Eventually we'll believe it.

Children's songs can provoke strong negative feelings in some people. Several years ago I was the editor for this http://h2g2.com/edited_entry/A3577647 "Traditional Children's Songs - UK" on h2g2.
Other members were posting their suggestions of songs and rhymes for inclusion in the Entry, I was choosing which to include and adding them. One member suggested 'We are Redmen', I'd never heard of it, it seemed ok, so I added it. That decision got me posts from one member about how offensive that song was, my memory is vague, from what I recall she was very insistent that this song was so offensive it should not be in the Entry. When I sent the Entry to h2g2 Editors, they decided to leave the song in, with a sentence about it not being so popular now due to its potential political correctness lyrics.
