When you see a plane flying overhead......

Aviation enthusiasts will already know how to find out.

After opening the above link you will see a map and lots of moving aircraft icons.
Zoom the map to get to your location.
Click your mouse on any aircraft you can see and you will get a left sidebar showing the info.
Click the photo of the aircraft to get a detailed view.

Pretty boring eh!

Well, there's more..

In the left sidebar, below the top blue panel you can see 4 symbols, click on the 3D icon.....playtime!
Use the switches and controls to change views etc.
If you find the image breaking up, flick the Aircraft On switch.

Try to find a plane that's about to land and see it from onboard.

Not boring. Fascinating.
I often see planes from my garden and wonder where they are going.

Incidentally, when they have a fly-past for Her Majesty's (the Queen, not the eBid seller!) birthday, they marshall over the North Sea before turning towards Buck House.

Luckily, they have to fly over our house to get there so we get a ringside (noisy) seat for free. And I get great photographs. I have waved, but they ignore me.
I'm thinking of selling tickets this year.

Thanks for posting, I've bookmarked the page. I saw a criss-cross of vapour trails overhead yesterday and wondered where all the planes were headed, now I know where to find out. Quite an update for my geography too!

I had the Flightradar app on my mobile phone - until I had to reset the phone and lost the app. Very interesting, although I fear I might quickly turn into a 'planespotter' if I spend too much time looking at it. Someone I know has an advanced app that lets you have a cockpit view as the plane comes into land.

The "problem" with the site is that it only. shows Civil Aircraft where as we have far more military aircraft fly over us including Lockheed C-130 Hercules that fly very low pass both our and my folks houses.... at my folks house they are low enough to be able to read all the Numbers on them

We also have both RNAS Yeovilton and AAC Middle Wallop very close to us so military aircraft fly all around us daily

My folks live at the top of a hill that up until recently had no other houses near it so it was "a landmark" that the big planes used as a marker on their way into Middle Wallop. And the smaller planes used it as a marker when they were heading back into Yeovilton
